No, that does not look good! What do you do? Sevin dust? Hey thank you for visiting me but my gardens do not compare to yours! Yours are gorgeous.

I don't know what they are. But I'm like you....I don't like 'em.
Maybe you could smoke them out. My Granddad had a smoker that he used to smoke out the bees so he could rob the honey.
Good luck!

I would try the Sevin dust first and then move onto something else if you need it. I have no idea but I think I have seen the same thing in my gardens. I don't remember doing anything and they went away. Maybe Dawn squirting on them would get rid of them. Please let us know if you find out what they are and what you did to get rid of them OK.

That ain't good! Baby lubber grasshoppers. I crush them by the hundreds every year at this time. I try to kill twenty or thirty a day until I can find no more. Those that survive become the big, nasty, yellow lubbers that eat our crinums and amaryllis to the nub.

Greetings from California! I was directed here by Julie to identify your bugs. They look like Lubber Grasshoppers. We don't have those here, so I can't give you any first-hand advice, but I did a quick search of the GardenWeb forum, and there are a few good ideas for controlling them.

Ugh Darla.... You are getting some good suggestions. Hope you can get rid of them... That's the way we feel when the Japanese Beetles come and try to eat our roses... YUK.

Hugs,
Betsy

I've never heard of Lubber Grasshoppers, but they do look hungry! I will tell my son-in-law to look out for them.

I agree that they are some kind of grasshopper and that you need to get rid of them as quickly and completely as you can. I've heard that grasshoppers are expected to be a problem out west this year, but I haven't heard anything about problems in Florida. Good luck!

Oh dear.....I do not have any advice, but I hope some of the suggestions work :-) How is your dad doing?

I was going to ask YOU about them ... I got more plants today & am dying to get them into the ground.

Have a great weekend.

Kill them babies fast. They are little eating machines.I hope there will not be a plague of them in your area.

Lubber grasshoppers. I have those things by the millions. I take my garden gloves with me and walk the garden every morning and evening looking for those guys to squish. I have squished sans gloves but I really don't like to do that. Squish and stomp. Poison might work while they are little but when they turn into the huge 'yellow bugs' they are impervious to spray. Besides, I try to not spray in my garden. In Florida sometimes, it's hard not to spray. Get them now before they grow up. I pretty much live and let live in my garden except for those guys and slugs.

OMG! Not good at all!
Haven't seen grasshoppers like that before. Good luck and happy squishing

Glad someone identified these for you! I'd never seen these and hope I never do. Kill them fast before they ruin your beautiful flower garden!
