Hi Guys and Dolls,
Went for my second cortisone injection since March for tendonitis in my right elbow. This injection took longer and hurt much more than the first one. As most of you know the cortisone only treats the inflammation, not the pain. So, the pain is more severe after the injection for a couple days until the inflammation diminishes. I came home with a wrist guard and a tennis band on my arm. The Doctor wants me to try to take the pressure off of the tendon because it is causing muscle spasms and slight swelling. He said this looks like one of the more severe cases of tendonitis...sigh...I do hope the pain is better by Saturday...it's going to be beautiful gardening weather!! I'll be around reading your blogs, might not comment much today and tommorrow, as this little note was quite the challenge!

Sorry to hear about your elbow. I know tendinitis can be very painful. My husband got it once after laying a tile floor and his arms were huge.
Rest your elbow :)
I am so sorry for your suffering, dear Darla! Please take it easy and don't rush anything. Rest is best. And practice using your other arm. :-)

Darla, I'm so sorry to hear about your tendonitis. It has to be so frustrating and painful...especially if it affects the things you love doing. Hope you recover soon.
Have a great weekend!

Darla, that sounds miserable. I hope you feel better by tomorrow and that the doctor can control it in the long run. Our GM here had a similar problem and wore a brace for quite a while but is better now.

Darla: Hope you are feeling better real soon. Take it easy on the gardening and the rest may do you some good.
Oh, Darla, how sad to hear your pain. You'll have plenty of rest now through winter so those wrists can be in tip top form come spring planting.
Hugs,
Lynn
Darla~~ Tendonitis? Not fun. Here's to a speedy recovery. Interesting that it is your right elbow because my elbow has gotten so bad I can hardly lift things with my right arm and now the pain is moving up my arm and into my shoulder. This getting old stuff totally sucks! I love the house you chose for your banner photo. Can you imagine being the mistress of this little haven? I bet in its day it was a palace!
Follow the doctor's orders now so you can heal. Don't I sound motherly?
Sorry to hear about the elbow.
I hope you get relief from the pain soon!!!
Oh, Darla,
I wonder what the difference is between tendonitis and tennis elbow. A number of years ago, my husband got 2 tons of gravel to put in the back yard, because grass wouldn't grow there. I had other plans, but stayed home to help him shovel it into the yard when I saw what he was about to do.
Well, I ended up with pain in my elbow, and didn't rest it. I gardened through the pain. I finally had to go in, and after several cortisone shots, physical therapy, rest, etc, ended up finding through radio advertising, a surgeon who did a minimally invasive surgery. According to the ad, I would be able to do my normal activities within days of the procedure. They didn't tell me until afterward, that I would have a lifting restriction for awhile. The pain didn't go away right away, either, but it finally did after a few months. He had me come back for rechecks, and didn't sign me off until he knew I was healed. All in all, I was glad I had it done. Once in awhile, I feel like some tendonitis is there, but it is mild, and doesn't last long.
I sure hope you are able to make yourself rest it until your elbow heals. I remember my physical therapist, who went to the same church I do, scolded me when he saw me using scissors, deadheading some flowers there.
Take Care!
