Birds and Foliage Follow Up..

What an exciting end to The Great Backyard Bird Count.

..In the afternoon we had no less than 5 Eastern Bluebirds at a time in our back yard.
We only have one nesting box..until later today that is...

Hawk landed in the tree right outside of our backyard fence...we own the property outside of the fence as well. Fenced area is for the pool.

I am participating in Foliage Follow-up over at Pam's http://www.penick.net/digging/?p=6340

Nice pics of the birdies Darla.

My sedum has done really well thru the winter. The snow didn't seem to faze it at all.

Those sedums are so beautiful!!! I am going to try a potful here and hope for the best! I also did a post about Angelina today! Your Coral Reef is so gorgeous!!! The leaves look like coins!

I LOVED your bird posts. So much fun to see what you saw. And how lucky you are to have bluebirds!

We're lucky too in the Texas Hill Country to be in a birdy fly-way zone. Sometimes flocks, sometimes singles. I looked up one day to see a Crested Caracara flying across the street. We never know what we'll see, which keeps us looking. And isn't that what makes life good, to always be looking?

They are beautiful Darla!

Darla don't you just love Blue Birds. You are so lucky to have had so many come sedum's are looking good. The cold did not hurt them it seems.

It's wonderful that you had so many feathered visitors over the weekend. We have at least four bluebirds coming to our feeders this winter. I think they're still our favorite visitors,

Skeeter said...

We have the same birds except we have the Brown-Headed Nuthatch instead of the White-Breasted. I so enjoy watching the birds at our feeders during the winter months as there are so many more then any other time of year. The birds were going crazy during our snowfall. I will show a clip later on of the activity. I was so lucky to capture that action as usually when I have camera in tow, my fluttery friends don’t pose for me :-)

I am thankful for the beautiful snow fall we had this weekend.

Hi Darla and it's nice to meet you. Oh, what gorgeous birds you have to visit! Don't think I've ever seen those kinds of bluebirds in person!
Thanks for popping in to see me. Weird is okay sometimes! :)
Be a sweetie,

What colorful birds you saw for your count! Will you post your results? Also, what setting have you been using for your bird pictures? They are really good!!
I remember the Bluebirds you had nesting last year in your yard, I bet you'll have more this year!

I keep looking to see if my sedum has begun to sprout, as well as the crocus and daffodils. Nothing yet. But I'm not giving up on them!

You have some real beauties coming to your yard. I wish we had bluebirds! We've had a few hawks hanging around this winter. I caught a photo of one when it landed on the tray feeder in the front yard a couple of weeks ago.
Love your sedums and sempervivum. They're such pretty shapes and colors.

What fun containers - I especially like the glossy blue one with sedum. I'm looking forward to having more birds around once our trees get bigger.

Ooohh I love all of your sedum. I am hoping to have some this year.

Thank you for the link. I tried to link your blog; it was already linked. Thought I left a Bloom Day message, don't see it. Love your sedums. Love the patience that your bird photos reflect.

How wonderful to have so many bluebirds visit. The woodpeckers and cardinals make appearances here from time to time, but alas...no bluebirds.

Dirt Princess said...

Wow! Look at all of those birds! I put out three more feeders yesterday, so maybe they will show up!

Andrea said...

Hi Darla, i am new here, those are lots of birds in your backyard and so beautiful. I specifically love the cardinals, we dont have them here. For the succulents I didn't know it is called black, beautiful. Thanks. I have some different succulents too in my last post, to detour from vivid colors of the tropics.

momstheword said...

That was fun! I loved the redheaded wood pecker. And I always love bluebirds! Makes it seem like spring already.

Pam/Digging said...

I do love all your sedums, Darla. What is the one that looks like fish scales, with round, flat leaves?

I enjoyed your birds too!

Great bird and succulent shots! o the birds ever wonder what happened to that feeder? Lol.

I put part 2 of my snow pics up.

Darla, I hope you don't mind that I've posted a link to this post over on my Our Little Acre blog, where I've done a GBBC follow-up. You've got some great shots here! The bluebirds!! I'm so envious of that one. We had a bluebird family nest for the first time at our place last year. I hope they come back this year and do the same!
