Weekend and Potassium Update..

We actually made it into the 70's this weekend. Great gardening weather. I spent Friday and most of Saturday removing sod to expand my full sun garden. I also planted the Dahlias- Spectacle and Sky Angel, moved some grasses, pruned the Double Knock-out Roses, moved two other rose bushes, planted the Columbine from Rain Gardener, cut back the Sheffield Pink Mums, well you get the picture...As I type we have a thunderstorm moving in and then of course some cooler weather behind it.

I purchased a new Sedum..."Variegata" Sedum lineare
The blooms around here are scarce, but the birds are plentiful.
It was January 16th that I had the little episode of my heart rate reaching 243 beats per minute to find that my potassium was low, 3.1, normal range is 3.5 to 5. something. Anything in the 2 point range is dangerous.
I took potassium supplements for one month, now my potassium is 5.0 YIPPEE!!
I'll stop taking the potassium for one month, and have more labs to see if I am retaining the potassium.
Continued prayers are welcome..

Today I am Thankful for a new day!

Very pretty! I have found that you have to have a lot of patience to take a photo of a bird. I gave up yesterday...There was a cardinal peeking at me from around the bird feeder.

Hi Darla,
Nice collage! When I enlarged it, I saw that the first Bluebird has his landing gear down, but not quite touching the mirror! Neat!

They have been flying in and out of my bluebird house like crazy! Hopefully we will be having lots of birdie babies!

Darla,
I've never seen the eastern Bluebird here. So very bright and pretty in the winter environment.

G'morn, Darla ~ I have the potassiusm issue also ... went thru a similar episode as did you. Amazing how horribly that just a tad off reading can affect the body. Glad you are doing better ... I've been on mine for a year to stay stable. Best of luck to you.

Love your bird pics.

Have a beautiful week!

It is good news about the potassium. Your pictures are wonderful. I've not seen Eastern bluebirds down here, we must be too far south.

We had a great weekend too.

The birds are wonderful and plentiful here, too. We didn't make it to 70, but it sure was beautiful. Too bad more cold weather is heading our way~~ Sigh! gail I do hope you never have such a scary episode again...

That is great news about your potassium. It sounds as though you have been very busy in your garden! I love the shots of the Bluebird "levitating" above the car mirror and the Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

I can never get enough Blue bird pictures they are just the prettiest and cutest things.
You are busy in the garden already and moving things around. We must always be making bigger and bigger beds so we can get more flowers. Have a blast moving and planing.

Good to hear your Potassium is where is should be, hopefully it'll stay in the normal range in your next lab result.
You sound like you had a very productive weekend! It's nice to have some good gardening weather after all the cold you had.

This is good news, Darla. Thank you for the update. My back hurts just thinking about lifting sod. I'm sure the results are well worth the effort. Here's to more sunshine and stabilized potassium.

So glad the numbers are up. I know you must be feeling better with the higher numbers.

The weather was awesome this weekend - just a little taste of whats to come.

Beautiful bluebirds.

Hi Darla,

Isn't it wonderful to have such a productive day in the garden? The bluebird is just beautiful - we don't get them here in the AZ desert. So wonderful that your latest report from the doctor is a good one. I pray that it will remain that way.

THANK YOU so much for the seeds! I am can't wait to plant them. It is rainy today, but maybe later this week, I will be able too. Thank you so much!

Good news on your potassium level! Gotta also beware of it getting too high...so good to stop for a while and re-monitor.

Beautiful birds...and love your new sedum!!!!

Oh my word, drink Orange Juice if someone hasn't told you too already.

I like your birdies and sedum! We had 60's for one day and it was enough to get me excited. It was probably enough to sprout a few weeds too.

Loved being here today--and you get better--you hear!!!

I read that post header as Weekend, and a possum. Well I was going to suggest that the nasty Raccoon on my deck, and what I thought was your possum, go head to head. Kind of like King Kong, and that other guy in the movies.

But I am thrilled to hear that it is potassium levels that you are talking about. Good to hear that you are feeling better.

Great news about the potassium! You certainly had a busy day, but I know you will reap lots of beauty later in the year!

Hi Darla. I hope your health stays improved. It sure can be scary when something is awry.
It looks like late spring/summer there to me! Such greenery & colors. You have a wonderful assortment of birds too (well, aside from all those cowbirds!)
