Bloomin' Tuesday...

It's time to join Jean at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com for Bloomin' Tuesday! My plants are alive, the blooms are few due to the heat. It is very challenging to keep everything watered. We did receive about one tenth of an inch of rain last evening and it was just beautiful falling from the sky.

Ipomoea 'Blackie'

Daylily

White Zinnia in the mist of Blue Bedder Salvia and Purple Coneflowers

Hibiscus with a guest. Thanks for the seed Dirt Princess.

I normally cut the first flowering stalks out of my Dusty Miller in order to get much bushier plants.

If you purchase black oil sunflower seeds to feed the birds, every now and then this happens!

Thanks for all of the nice comments about my veggies in yesterday's post. We do have an area where we 'try' to grow veggies. I did however plant the onions in my full sun flower garden and now that area has been replanted with Bell Peppers. Also in the full sun flower garden are hot Rooster Spur Peppers and hot Datil Peppers.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I am Thankful that the majority of my plants are alive!
It is a challenge to keep the flowers going. My garden hose broke last week and my plants ended up going 8 days without water. Too hot to work in the garden too and I need to real bad. Zinnia looks pretty nestled in the salvia with a coneflower in the background.
That day lily is gorgeous! I also love your combination of the white zinnia and the blue salvia. I wanted to grow zinnias for a long time, but somehow never made it to sow the seeds, so I am glad that I get to enjoy yours.
Cool--you got a bloom on 'Blackie'! I was thrilled the first time that happened to me. In my climate blooms on ipomea are not that common.
glad to hear you got a bit of rain. I hope you get more soon.
Great looking blooms. Love the shoe.
I have a volunteer zinnia. Not ready to bloom. May have to prop it up by that time. My sweet potato vines never bloom. Trying to propagate the very light one as they are not plentiful around here.
The flowers look great. I thanks for the inspiration with the onions below. I was thinking mine weren't making progress, but looking at the leaves on yours I think I need to give them time.
"You sure have a green thumb, DarlaSuziQ" That's what My Daddy used to say to me, and now I say it to you. Your garden does grow fine, in spite of the few drops of rain here and there. Love everything and look at those fine veggies. Mine are just up, meaning about a few inches.
Sweet sour cabbage sure sounds like a plan and fried green tomatoes.
I am also thankful for the rain we've seen over the last week or so. It has been so hot and dry. And I am thankful for a day or two of not having to drag waterhoses all over the place.
The square foot gardening layout is great. However, for larger plants, you'll really want to "spread things out" a bit more to allow a little breathing room between plants.
They claim it performs in well-drained soil and bright sun and easy to grow if in the ground. The plant in a pot needs more watering though. Outside the plant dies but will return in the spring.
