Bloomin' Tuesday...

Join Jean over at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ to see what other gardener's have blooming today and/or link up with us. Hidden Ginger

I hope the Brugmansia - Angel Trumpet Tree blooms are open this morning.

See the hanging container with the struggling white Geranium in it?

My oldest daughter said, "I bet you are the only person with a hanging Sunflower." Courtesy of some critter.

This is my first year to have Pinecones on my Pinecone Lilies, I did not know they flowered though. Thanks Ms. Doris three doors down for the starts.

I almost let this very light pink Crinum Lily fade completely white before I photographed it. Thanks for the reminder DH. We have from very deep pink to this almost white color on our Crinums. Our Crinums were rescued from the garbage of a construstion sight a few years back so we really haven't seen all the colors yet.

Today I am Thankful for being able to see my oldest daughter over the weekend.

I love the free weeds guy, too cute!

Your Ginger bloom is so pretty! Mine did not bloom this year. What do they like? It used to bloom before the foliage appeared.

The sunflower's too funny! I purposely plant them and they get eaten or don't grow... the birds drop the seeds and they show up unexpectedly:@)

Jill said...

I've never even heard of a pine cone lily...how interesting. Your free weed guy is adorable!

That Ginger is a lovely flower.

Love your leafy figure in the first photo! I had to chuckle at your container with the sunflower. Last year I planted what I thought were salvia seedlings in a container, except they turned out to be Verbena Bonasiensarus (sp??). Those skinny three-foot tall blooms didn't exactly fit in with my planned design:)

Enjoy your time with your daughter!

Love the pinecone lily - so unique!

I always admire Angel Trumpets, too. I don't think I can grow them.

How cute to have a sunflower in your hanging basket.

Isn't is strange how a rodent can plant a sunflower seed and it will grow, but I can't even grow a single flower from two packs of Burpee seeds? Geez, I thought sunflowers were about the easiest to grow. Unless they are hiding under something else, none of mine sprouted.

Lola sent me a pinecone lily and I am looking forward to it blooming. Crinium lilies are big in SC, didn't see them so much in Virginia. I have been trying to figure out a place for one....lucky for you to find some in the garbage!
Did I tell you I was able to find a Brug at Park Seed? No blooms yet, but growing like crazy and looking very healthy. Do you take yours in over the winter? Some folks in VA used to have theirs come back (if it was in the ground).

The free weeds guy (and the beer) are such a cute touch. I'm starting to think weeding with a beer might make the task more agreeable.

Having a sunflower in a hanging basket is truly different, this might start a whole new trend. Maybe the rodents are onto something here...

The pinecone lily is amazing along with the ginger bloom and the crinum. You have so many flowers I've never seen.

Thanks for the info on the Brug. Right now mine is in a container....needed the height in that part of the garden.
by the way--- forgot to say how funny I think the sunflower in the container is. Have had lots of bird seed sunflowers germinate and grow.

The pinecone lilyis a new plant for me. It definitely is different. Your rescued crinums are doing well. I wonder if I could get rid of some of my weeds with the help of the guy in your first picture?

Love that Angel Trumpet Tree! I have been watching the one down the road from me, but it hasn't bloomed yet.
How cool is that Pine Cone Lily!

Hidden Ginger??? Wow---that is gorgeous... Haven't seen one of them up here I don't think...

Love your little 'guy' in the first picture.. Too Cute!!!!

I laughed at the 'hanging' Sunflower....For some reason, we have those things all over our yard... ha

Glad you got to see your daughter. Once they are all grown, gone and married --it's harder to have time with them...

Hugs,
Betsy

Love your weed man. I have a ton of weeds since we started getting showers every day. Enough for a few days.
My Pine Cone Lily is blooming. You know the fluid in the cone can be used to wash your hair? I tried & it's nice.
Sunflower in a pot---great. I have Trumpet plants in a pot & one in the ground. Neither is growing very much & there has diffidently been NO blooms.
Oh, I have plenty Pine Cone Lily if anyone wants. Free.

Oh, you got to see Amanda Chalea? How nice. It's been almost a year now since the wedding, if I'm correct. I hope she's enjoying married life. Did her hubby come along too?

Love your hanging sunflower. That is too funny. I also love your pinecone lily. From the photo it looks waxy, like a candle. I wish we could grow them here. Did you name your moss lady? I love her sign. The brugmansia is huge!! I love it and that Ginger flower is gorgeous. Basically I love all your plants. :)

Those brugs are going to be stunning when they all open. Love the sunflower volunteer. I haven't had any luck planting them on purpose, but an occasional stray from the birdseed will take hold and grow like a, well, weed. Your garden looks great in this heat. Hope you've been getting some of the rain we have. It's been heaven-sent.

Hi Darla, y'all getting enough rain over there? Is a pine cone lily the same as shampoo ginger? Looks like it. Very pretty. Love your crinum, mine are dark pink and white not much blooming with our drought, but the plants are so tough.
