Bloomin' Tuesday...

Still my favorite rose in my gardens, grocery store find, 5 dollars. I know I've posted it before, but my goodness she is so worth repeating!Dealing with on going hip issues and now my knee has doubled in size, so rest is in order for a few days. Will keep you updated as I know more. Needless to say the bending, twisting, squatting and those beautiful, " I wonder how I'm going to reach that plant" poses are on hold as far as gardening goes right now. Just as well seeing how it is dangerously hot outside and the snakes are crawling. My diagnosis is, get this, Aging Athletes Syndrome.....yes, I was a gymnast for many, many years and then a coach, BUT I do believe my Dr. is beginning to think that gardening is a sport too!

So sorry to hear of your injury. Gardening should be good exercise after you're rested. Maybe by then, the heat will let up!

Does that rose smell as good as it looks?

Ami said...

Best wishes for your speedy recovery! Yes, it has been dangerously hot out there. I am taking a "break" from gardening :) Your $5 rose is a real beauty!

Oh I am so sorry to hear that you are having pain and troubles. We just wear our joints out without even thinking about it until something like this takes us down. You take care now. The rose is well worth flaunting. It is a beauty.

Aging is sometimes inconvenient. So is the heat. I hope you find comfort soon. Thanks for visiting my peculiar dogwood. I've emailed the county agent for his opinion.

That rose is so beautiful that I can understand why you would post it more than once. I'm sorry to hear about your problem, but I've never thought of you as 'aging'. I agree that it's good to stay inside during this hot weather.

You take care of yourself. These roses are beautiful.

Pretty rose! Take it easy and baby that knee and hip! You will want to be able to go outside once this heat (if ever!) subsides.

Amazing roses! Gardening as a sport, I like that! I hope your body reacts well to the break. Jean

Are you still "grouchy" [you said it, not me] from having to sit? Actually I don't blame you one bit if you are. I know you're a very active person and always have several irons in the fire. This has got to be nerve wracking. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Your featured rose is lovely and considering all the heat you've had and it's still going strong just proves what a trooper it is. No wonder it's your favorite! I hope the snakes find some other place to hang out. Your garden is much too nice for those evil things.

Take it easy on that knee and maybe your family will bring you some of the beautiful roses for you to smell-while resting. That would make it better I bet.

Oh gosh, Darla, I sure hope you feel better! That is awful that you got hurt.

I am also wondering how your son is doing...I have been praying for him and know that he has been through such a tremendous loss.

Hope you'll be feeling better soon and your flowers are so beautiful.

Hope your knee will heal soon, Darla. I've always felt that gardening was great exercise, never really thought of it as a sport!

Lola said...

Oh my, Darla. I do hope you heal with plenty of rest. Gardening does have it's results. I know & I hate not being able to do like before. Almost l yr for surgery on left knee.
That is a beautiful rose. Glad to see it again.

I think gardening can be a sport at times too! I hope your new feels better, hope you are able to stay off your feet and rest it awhile. I think snakes and high temps would be enough to keep me indoors for awhile.

Sounds like you are a little under the weather. Hope you will be better soon.

LOVE the rose. Flower photos never seem like repeats, because each photograph is different.

So sorry to hear about your kneee and hip problems, I'm actually dealing with something similar. Very difficult to work out in our sweltering heat as well. I sympatize with you greatly. I was going to mention, it is difficult to read your small purple/bluish script against the dark red back ground in your blog. It may be that I am super color sensitive, or getting old, or a combo ! Probably a combo. White script and larger , woudl be easier to read. You have such gorgeous flowers and family pictures to the side. You are blessed, take care, Gina

Some people like to have formal flower gardens, planted for neatness and for color contrast. Others plant flowers in everywhere, even amongst the vegetables. Many flowers such as marigolds will keep away pests from the vegetable patch.
