Bloomin' Tuesday...

The resecued Double Impatiens are hanging on. One of my gardening neighbors gave me a white Marigold that she spent 2 dollars on for 12 seeds....does this look white to you? I will say, it has faded to a nice buttery yellow shade since this photo was taken a couple of days ago. Perhaps as it ages it will fade to white?
Drop by http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ to see what other gardener's still have blooming.

I am continuing to add items to my new site every few days. I am also happy to report that I have received some requests for special orders. http://handmadeandvintage.weebly.com/

I have also been surprised when a plant turns out to be different from what was expected. Fortunately the surprise is almost always a pleasant one.

Both flowers look great, Darla Dear. I used to plant Marigolds here but with our long, wet springs they would always either turn to mush or get eaten by slugs before summer ever hit. Now I know better. But I still don't plant them anymore. Go figure. :) I SO glad people are frequenting your site. I'm hoping it's a total success.

Wishing you well with your website. I'm still trying to figure out how to price items and the best way to sell them.

Have a great week ~ FlowerLady

It does not look white to me. don't you just hate when you get taken by seed/flower companies? I know I do. But even if it never turns white it is a very pretty shade of yellow.

Lola said...

Never saw one change either. I'm sure it is pretty. All your flowers are gorgeous.
Sure hope you are feeling much better.
Congrats on your new site. Love it.

I love the buttery color of the marigold - although I know how disappointing it can be to think you'll have one color, then the plant blooms a different color! The double impatiens are so pretty. I wish they weren't an annual!

Enjoyed looking at the different shades of marigold.

I just adore impatiens....In MI they used to grow like bushes....so pretty!

Beth said...

Hi Darla, Sully, Iowa, close to where I grew up, is "home of the white marigold." It was successfully hybridized by a lady there. To be quite honest, I've not seen many white marigolds and yours sure doesn't qualify as it stands...pretty anyway, though.

No, mine weren't white either but I do like them. I ordered some more of a different name from Burpee and and next year we shall see if it's "whiter". Since the seeds were so expensive that's why I am gifting to others. Thank you for visiting and I loved looking at your garden.

Karen said...

I wonder what variety that is? I have grown Snowball and another one (forget the names) and they were actually more cream colored than white, though as they aged they faded more to white. The only problem was the plants didn't flower as long as the old tried and true yellow/orange ones, so I haven't grown them for a few years. I've been growing Inca marigolds for a long time now and am always happy with them, they stand up to almost everything, except frost.

Hi Darla,
I like both of your blooms. I am pretty sure your marigold is not going to turn white. I've planted seeds that were not the color the package said they were going to be before.

I went to your new site, and enjoyed seeing your items. It looked like you cleaned out my house for some of them. LOL I do need to be doing that. I hope you find some folks to haggle with.

I've been following the hurricane coverage much of the day, and praying for the areas affected.

Hi Darla,
Pretty Marigold, I love the soft yellow! Hope the Hurricane didn't get close to your home!

This is a wildflower which does well in the perennial garden. Deep blue flower spikes on fairly compact plants are a great contrast to the fall blooming mums. Bloom commences in mid to late August and continues until mid to late September.

There are cultivated varieties of this beautiful fall perennial. The bright yellow spikes of flowers lend a autumnal flavor to any flower garden.
