Cottage Flora Thursday and FF

Dianthus Feather Grass with Althea- Rose of Sharon Tree

Blue Bedder Salvia modge podge of Zinnias

White Vinca with Yellow Sulphur Butterfly. Sulphurs are a sign that the seasons are close to changing. We see them before Spring and before Fall.

Yellow Sulphur on Zinnia, no it's not the same Sulphur.

Hemaris thysbe , Hummingbird Moth or Clearwing Moth are seen on clear sunny days unlike most moths. The love my Dianthus and I have seen several at a time sipping the juice from fallen pears.

Don't know this Butterfly's name, looks like a Swallowtail, she sure was enjoying the pink Profusion Zinnias. Yesterday not only did I see the critters posted here today, I also saw several Gulf Fritillary Butterflies, several Zebra Swallowtail Butterflies and plenty of Bees. Could this Butterfly be an older Zebra Swallowtail? See how it has blue and not white on it?

Linking up to http://fishtailcottage.blogspot.com/ for today and http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ for tomorrow.

I have started a new website http://handmadeandvintage.weebly.com it's a new idea of an old concept for shoppers. Remember the site is new and still needs some tweaking. Items are updated every few days. If you have a chance drop by and take look, if you see something that interests you "Get Your Haggle On."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I am Thankful for all of this activity in my gardens!
Yep, that is a Zebra you have there. My butterfly book says they change a bit from Spring to late Summer. Blue spots are a color found on their kite tails...
We are starting to see yellow sulphurs as well. Fall is approaching...
You have got some awesome photos! Love seeing the butterflys and that moth is gorgeous! Didn't know there were any that ventured out in the daytime. Your garden is still beautiful. This time of year is always ancy for me. I want to do a Fall clean up since things are ending their cycle, but it's way to early.
Have a great weekend!
Pretty blooms Darla. Love the hummingbird moth and now I can identify them too. LOL. Now girl I know you had to get down pretty low to get those pics of the dianthus. I wish I could squat or kneel down - knees too old for that now.
After the slight cool down we had for a couple of days - maybe we are going to have an early fall especially since your already seeing the yellow sulphur butterfly. I saw where Marydon said she thought they were having an early fall.
All the butterflies in your garden look happy to have found all those flowers. I've seen the sulphurs here, too, and I'm hoping for at least another month of nice, warm temps. I'm not looking forward to frost. At all.
Love your salvia with zinnias! A great combination! Pretty butterflies. I always get so excited when I see a hummingbird moth. Not sure why. I guess just because it's different than most.
Your photos are just wonderful! So pleased that you named the flowers and insects.
Thanks for the visit! Yes, wouldn't it be great if we could incorporate the scent of the flower with the paint!
I didn't realize the sulphurs showed up more at the changing of the seasons, but now that I think about it, yes. Fall. I am looking forward to being able to spend some more time outside. Lately it has either been raining or just too hot to be out for very long. Great photos of lovely flowers and the creatures who love them.
Hi Darla, thanks for the comment on my post. To answer your question on the hibiscus seed---you know, I've never checked, but I will now. And the AJ sedums; well, I have very anemic sandy soil and it's rather dry so they seem to like it and don't get too floppy. Another thing I do is grow them in full sun and when they're up about six inches in the spring I take a shovel and root prune them all the way around the plant, staying close to the stems. They wilt, but they get over it and then they stand up better.
Good to know about the portulaca, I was wondering if I was supposed to be fussing with it or not. The salvia is just being stubborn this year and so are my usually faithful hyacinth beans...the plant looks wonderful, but not a flower in sight.
I saw "CF Thursday" and couldn't believe it's been that long since I've been to your blog, Darla Dear. Bad me! I'm so envious of your hummingbird moth population. You lucky gal. Of course they come not because of luck but because of your hard work. So kudos to you. Love that last photo with the PINK flowers and the butterfly.
Yes, I am thankful for all the activity in my yard, too. There were lots of butterflies out and about today, many white ones, maybe cabbage whites, but I'm not sure, because they were on blooms I don't think I normally see them on, and in larger numbers.
