Fertilizer Friday and Tree ID...

It's time to join the party in Canada over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ ...
These Narrow Leaf Zinnias, Angelonia and Sun Loving Coleus have done great in this area.
Black Eyed Susan Vine on the lattice.
BES Vine in the tipsy container.
Firespike is brilliant this year.
Second go round of Zinnias this year volunteered to come up in the walkway.
My Sedum wheelbarrow is filling in.

Yellow Narrow Leaf Zinnias are just about done.
Loropetalum, Fringe Flower--zones 7-10... can be pruned at anytime of the year.
A couple of Purple Coneflowers are still hanging around.
Balloon Flower

It's 41 degrees here (5 Celsuis) with a threat of light frost this weekend. Today I will be taking cuttings and gathering seeds for next Spring.

Tootsie has posted her sprouting Loofah seeds that I sent her. If you would like to see how I harvested them, click a couple of posts back or go to my sidebar at the bottom and click on the Loofah post.

**Update**: The tree that I asked about in my last post was identified by http://nanak-mygardenpath.blogspot.com and confirmed by http://sweetbay103.blogspot.com ...Baccharis halimifolia--Salt Marsh Elder, Sea Myrtle or Groundsel. Zones 5-9, tolerates a wide range of soil types (wet, dry, brackish), deciduous, multitrunked, 10-15 feet high. Can be pruned to any shape suitable for your garden.

Today I am Thankful for the crispness of Autumn.

Everything is so pretty Darla! I am really enjoying this weather, but I might not be so enthusiastic about it tomorrow morning when I'm standing in the cold watching my grandson's soccer game. I just love those 2 little birds sitting in your wheelbarrow by the way!

Love that wheelbarrow!
Looks like the same type of tree I have here on the farm. I'll have to post some pics so you can see it, too.
Hey, what kind of flower is that up there in your header? The big one in the back with the trumpet like flowers hanging down? I know you've posted it's name here before but I can't remember it.
I seen a huge one just yesterday. It was beautiful. I thought my Mother-in-law would like one for a gift.

Good morning Darla. I missed you guys this week too. Beautiful blooms. I love your sedum wheel barrow. I think the volunteer zinnias are so pretty and seem to be happy to be the last. Bees vine is stunning. Glad we are getting some of those cooler temps. Ready to move on in the season and begin thinking of spring.

Pretty combinations with your orange zinnias! Mine are in a narrow bed and it is hard to mix them with other plants. I like your wheelbarrow!

Hi Darla, Great header photo... Love it. Glad you found out what that tree is... Sounds like one you will keep.

Love seeing all of your late Fall flowers... Hope you don't freeze. We are definitely going to (20's)--so that will be the end of the 2010 Roses for us....

Have a great weekend.. And stay warm!!!! "Baby, It's Cold Outside"...

I can't believe how much you still have blooming! It looks like summer still and it's colder there than it is here. Still no frost threat and it was 74 the other day.

Your garden looks wonderful, and it's November! I really like the way you're using the wheelbarrow for your sedum.

I'm considering adding some Lorapetalums to my garden soon. Your blooms are so pretty, inspite of the cold temps. :)

Hey Darla,
I'm up in your part of the state this weekend and it is chilly-willy. You've got some great flowering plants in these photos! And your fringe plants are already blooming... wow. I love the dark foliage all year long.

I forgot to tell you I love your header photo.

Oh, my, I just looked up at the TV weather map, where there was a -19! Then, I heard them talking about how much the temp has dropped. I didn't catch the time period they were referring to. I'm thinking it was the last 24 hours.

Now, I can't remember what else I was going to say about your post. Oh, yeah, I was going to ask if your black eyed Susan vine survived the cold temps. Mine didn't. We have gotten down to the low twenties a time or two.
