Fertilizer Friday and !!

It's Fetilizer Friday over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/
Yesterday I received PPPP from Gail over at http://clayandlimestone.blogspot.com/ I would have posted a photo of the package BUT, Gail said to plant immediately! Gail, here is the PPPP tucked securely in it's new home. Thank you!!
I'm guessing because our weather is just a little left of center this fall, record breaking highs! It's no wonder my plants think it's time to sprout up! Calla Lilies...
Pansy
Pineapple Sage--attracts bees, butterflies and hummers.
Phlox--Nikki
Container of Violas
Sheffield Pink Mums--thanks for the ID Frances at http://fairegarden.wordpress.com/

Peppermint Verbena
Forge-Me Nots

Alyssum with white Petunia
Vinca
It is the most soft color of lavender.
Perhaps this Melampodium took it as a challenge when hubby mowed it down.
Container of Ornamental Peppers tucked in the Walking Iris.
African Marigolds
Red Petunia
Purple Coneflowers are
still blooming.
Sedum is filling in the rock area.
When I pinched the Mums-Tabitha back, I stuck the tops in a container and now they are blooming.
Golden Dew Drop

Double Knockout Roses.
A lonely Plumbago bloom
Who knew Kool-Aid could be so scary? The girls wanted to dye their hair last night for school today for Halloween.
For the Kool-Aid to set they slept with their heads wrapped in plastic bags. Not thinking this was too smart, as it is plastic on their heads..........shower caps Darla, shower caps next time.

My hands are a terrible shade of purple and red this morning.........gloves Darla, gloves next time! Have a Fantastic Friday!!

Oh how funny, the plastic bags! Our youngest used to dye his hair with koolaid for his soccer games when young. He graduated to real hair dye in college! Your sheffies look fabulous still, Darla. Thanks for the link love. :-)

Very floriferous, Darla. And those last two are scary.

Darla, That is too funny that you dyed your hands! How long will it take for the dye to wear off your hands and their hair? You are a fun mom! I am so glad PPPP arrived safely and thank your for the linklove!

Happy Halloween. gail

I didn't know you could do that with Kool aid! We should have had your girls do your hair! :) That would have been awesome to see.

You've reminded me I need to pick up some alyssum... although it would have perished in the heat we've been having had I gotten it before now. So many pretty blooms. So Gail's phlox will grow for you? hmmmm am I too far south for it? That's what I've been thinking anyway. Love those Sheffies!

I didn't realize there were so many creative uses of Kool-Aid! I really like the flowering plants you still have in your garden, although I'm sorry that your weather has some plants (your Calla lilies) confused.

Lovely blooms! I have a petunia blooming - that's it. So many leaves fell today my oak is almost bare this afternoon.
:) I so remember my daughter and her friends dying their hair with Kool-aid - ah, to be young. :)

Thanks for your visit to my bench post today.

Now will that koolaid just wash right out?? That is wild. I didn't know you could do that.

Erin said...

Your flowers ARE GORGEOUS! Every single one of them had me saying "oooh" or "ahhh". Right up until I got to the blood/kool-aid shot! Then I though, "Huh?"

P.S. Try rubbing alcohol on your hands...it gets regular hair dye off.

Great post...you covered everything...how well are your double knockout roses doing??? I've been interested in them. I spoke to a rose expert who told me that they are no knock-outs...duh...I don't exactly understand this whole thing.

Hi Darla~~ I love all your flowers especially the pineapple sage. My girls were all about false eye lashes and fishnet stockings this year. I always look forward to November 1st. :)

Almost forgot: You asked about a fertilizer/watering regimen. I use compost and leaves for the most part. However I will use a time release or some kind of fertilizer on my roses a few times a year. Clematis are supposed to get a feeding when the blooming stops but I'm hit and miss on this. I've found that watering is what keeps my plants looking good and during high summer and admittedly this can be arduous if not tedious, if not boring. My containers get a water soluable fertilizer once a month or once a year, depending on my mood. :) In other words, my plants are really good sports.

Oops, Darla, I forgot to answer your question about HOW I water. Usually with the hose. My garden buddy Carol suggested screw-on faucet two-way converter things so I have two hoses for each faucet to use in their assigned locations. I use a watering can on my containers. Sorry I droned on so long. It's my nature. :)

One thing I regret is not getting into gardening Darla, oh! don't get me wronge I love to see the flowers and well kept gardens... what I mean is I do not have green fingers.. nor dose Jane..
Like I said Darla it dose not stop me from uttering a wow now and then when a certain flower catches my eye.
Hope the Halloween Hair went well... I just wish I had hair to Halloween :O)
