It's Fetilizer Friday over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/
Yesterday I received PPPP from Gail over at http://clayandlimestone.blogspot.com/ I would have posted a photo of the package BUT, Gail said to plant immediately! Gail, here is the PPPP tucked securely in it's new home. Thank you!!
I'm guessing because our weather is just a little left of center this fall, record breaking highs! It's no wonder my plants think it's time to sprout up! Calla Lilies...

Header Challenge

As some of you know I have decided to join the Header Challenge with http://thefishingguy.blogspot.com and his posse. The topic of photo changes from week to week. This weeks challenge was a photo of berries. I was thinking that Dogwood Trees have berries. I have now learned that the flowering Dogwood Tree cornus florida actually has fruit not berries. The birds love them and they last throughout winter. Fun fact: The Flowering Dogwood Tree is the North Carolina State Flower. This photo was taken last evening after a rain shower. I do hope that this does not disqualify me as it's really a fruit and not a berry.

Wednesday Words...Winner!

Okay, so after two cups of coffee I enlisted the youngest medium kid to draw two names out of the hat...(one cup of coffee=one winner, two cups of coffee=two winners) Geez, glad I finally woke up!
Congratulations to Jen at http://muddybootdreams.blogspot.com ! I guess Canadians really to win Give-A-Ways from the States. Jen also hosts, Wednesday Words. Jen does not care very much for the stinkin' raccoon that keeps visiting her gardens.
The second winner is Catherine at http://agardenerinprogress.blogspot.com ! Catherine is very upset with the Bishop's Weed that is popping up all over her gardens.
I love hosting Give-A-Ways........just don't like the drawing names part. I so wish I could send everyone something. Jen and Catherine please email me, I have a couple of questions to ask you concerning your gift. rusdar at hotmail dot com
A HUGE THANK -YOU to all who entered. I'm sure I will be hosting another Give-A-Way soon!

Terrific Tuesday!!!

Yesterday I received a lovely gift from http://thefishingguy.blogspot.com/ ....he plays this game on Wednesday's entitiled 'What Is It?'. He posts a macro shot of something, you have to guess what it is and then he reveals the entire photo on Thursday's. I was fortunate enough to have a correct guess and he awarded me this beautiful photo of a yellow rose in this beautiful frame. To top it all off, there was a note that read, open later for another surprise..He did not say how much later....so, that meant right away to me!
Inside was a gorgeous photo of a Fawn which I'm sure was photographed in his backyard in Ohio!! Thanks Fishing Guy----this is a wonderful Wedding Anniversary Gift...
Fishing Guy and a couple of his friends have started a Header Challenge---a topic is picked, you photograph that topic and use it as your header..I am going to try, don't really know what I have gotten myself into with these three. They are real characters!! If you would like more info on this game, visit Fishing Guy and he'll give you the details.
Okay Gardeners, we have spoke of how strange the gardening season has been this year, right?
We have blooms on are Pear Tree!! Our pears were harvested in August....mmmmmmmm!

Terrific Tuesday because it is our 3rd Anniversary...although we have been together over 7 years...Winner of the Give-A-Way will be posted in the morning after my first cup of coffee...Good Luck!

Saturday Scenes Around Our House...

While I was busy transplanting some seedlings, my wonderful husband was mowing the lawn... sigh....and he did grin as he drove by! While I was doing some cleanup....ahem, I found some broken limbs.......see the culprit?
These belong to the people who were using the football...
A few shots of my gardens where I went to exhale after seeing the above activity in our yard..

Yes, I do like to twist the soft trunks and limbs of some of my trees...I love the look when all of the leaves have fallen. Some of you may cringe....but, do tell why?
To my surprise...We have Monarch Caterpillars, again.
We also have Monarch Eggs...
Ah, there she is laying the eggs...see her bottom tucked under?
After the Caterpillars completely stripped the Milkweed of all of it's leaves, I cut it back to the ground.....it's now growing back and the Monarch Butterfly is laying eggs here too.
As the temperatures cooled in the afternoon, husband decided to burn some old trees that have been pushed down.
This is what I see from the burn pile...side of our house..

and some of our back woods...

I hope you had a great weekend...Don't forget to enter my Give-A-Way, it's in the post before this one!
