Give-A-Way!!!

Yesterday morning this Bumble was snuggled in the Mexican Bush Sage. Looks like a velvet bed. This Bumble was laying on top of a Rose of Sharon Leaf....what a life!
Well Guys and Dolls on October the 27th my husband and I will celebrate our third Wedding Anniversary. In honor of this I am hosting a Give-A-Way.......will not reveal the contents of the gift because I don't know what it will be. A T-shirt, burlap pillow, soy candles, soap, seeds, plants, fresh fruit from our citrus trees or a combination???????????? I'm not into popularity contests so, you do not have to become a follower, you do not have to post this Give-A-Way on your blog...Simply leave me a comment....if you would like to be entered twice, tell me about a flower, shrub, tree or any plant that you do not like in your garden or yard and why..Give-A-Way winner will be posted the morning of October 28th after I have my first cup of coffee! Good Luck!!

Happy upcoming anniversary! Your photos are lovely - I love the "velvet" flowers! Of course I'd love to enter the giveaway. I have a pink lemon tree in my yard. I love the pink lemons but the tree has the biggest, sharpest most dangerous thorns on it that I've ever seen - that part I don't like at all! I keep debating about keeping it or removing it while it's still small enough to take out myself!
Have a great weekend! :-)

Happy anniversary to you guys! That's wonderful! Hope you celebrate big time!

The only plants I have in my yard right now that I'm not crazy about it the wild Privet shrub. The reason being is it is invasive. I have little shrubs pop up here and there. I pull up the little ones but I don't want to get rid of my big one. It's crazy but it reminds me of my yard in GA that I loved.

We have Yucca plants that grow wild here. Atleast that's what I think they're called. The points are so sharp they bring blood. And they are hard to get rid of.

Well Congrats on the upcoming anniversary.

Honestly the only thing I have in my garden that I don't like right now is that stinkin raccoon. I am always worried about Bootsie having a run in with it.

Isn't the smelly thing supposed to go back to bed for the winter?

Happy Anniversary. I know that Canadians don't usually get to take part of the US giveaways, but I was wanted to vent about that raccoon.

Yes guys and dolls, Canadians are welcome in my give-a-way!! If you so love everything about your garden and yard, then yes, pesky animals qualify...

Well congrats on the upcoming anniversary and here I had thought you had been married forever ;-) Your still sweethearts.

The plant I hate most in my yard is the maroon thyme that spreads everywhere by seed and comes up where you do not want it.But the purple leafed salvia is a close second because it does the same thing. They should be labeled invasive.
Have a great weekend!

Hi Darla.
Camera-Critters is open now. I open it on Saturday mornings. I have been sick with the flu all week, so I'm a little late today.

Darla: I do love the bee photos, they are neat. Congrats on the
3RD anniversary. I hate to put poison on my yard but the Dandelions can go and there is another leafy plant that the rabbits eat.

Happy Anniversary! I love the photos of the busy bees. I haven't seen many bees lately -- perhaps not enough blooming in the yard right now. There's not much in my yard that I don't like -- some ferns that come up from my neighbors yard that take over and seem to stay ahead of my pulling them out!

hey darla....congrats on the the upcoming anniversary. we celebrated our 23rd this year.

we really don't like having the osage orange trees...they are messy and the seed pods are huge. plus they are thorny.

enjoy celebrating your special day.
happy autumn.

I have some montauk daisies that I don't like. I LOVE the bloom and they give the garden a boost when everything else is waning, but the foliage on them is awful... and they are taking over the area they are in. I may just need to divide them.

Happy upcoming anniversary!!! -Jackie

Your got some wonderful pictures of the bees. Great job.
Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary. I agree with Fishing Guy -- I can't stand the dandelions in our lawn. I've resisted using chemicals, but digging them out is a never ending process.

Happy anniversary to you & your hubby Darla! Hope you have a wonderful day. :) I've mostly rid my garden of the plants I don't like, but the common Lirope seems to be still a thug so far.

Just enter me...lol
hope you are having a great weekend friend...it is too windy out here to do anything outside...and I am picking paint colors for the annual neurotic winter make-over...but I am taking a break to go thriftin for a couple hours!

Congrats on your wedding anniversary! Ours is next month. I am happy to celebrate in yours especially if I win:)

I have to say I do not like the burning bush in my yard. It self seeds under itself and birds probably distribute the seeds too. It is invasive here and I'm embarrassed to admit I planted it, but it will stay for now.

Three Year Anniversary. Amazing time it is. Looking back I can't even recall our third or any of them except the 50th. Lots of people showed up for that. People I seldom if ever see. It was almost like we won the lottery and they all came for a handout. We gave them cake and punch and coffee or tea and pop.

Congratulations on three big ones. Patty and I will celebrate 55 next July. Imagine that.

The Bumble bees are still here too. They look for almost anything that is still producing nectar or pollen.

It would be wonderful to able to go to sleep on a Salvia leucantha flower, wouldn't it? They are just like velvet.

Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!

Hi, Darla, I came over to thank you for your sympathetic comment on my blog. But I'm confused - do you have two blogs, or one new blog, or what? Let me know because I'd like to visit again!

Happy Anniversary to you and your husband!!
I would have to say the Bishop's weed in my yard drives me crazy since it not only spreads everywhere, but right up through the middle of plants I do like.

Tootsie said...

does the trailer trash next door count as something I don't like in my yard? she is always drunk and calls me names!
I also don't like dog poop...there...two things!

Congratulations Darla! I would love to be in your give away. Anything from you would be great. I am still enjoying your candles. The soap is long gone and I loved it so. Oh and the seeds .....wow! I love everything in my gardens so far!

Happy anniversary, the only plant I don’t like in my garden is a bougainvillea bush planted on the ground in the front garden, it grows and keeps on growing.

I love the bumble bee in your picture. Very beautiful. Happy Wedding Anniversary! May you have many many more.

The plant I don't like in my garden is the purple waffle plant. When it first came to me, I thought it was heaven sent. I didn't plant it. It just grew by itself. Actually it has nice leaves and pretty tiny purple flowers. What I cannot stand is that it has invaded my garden. It is everywhere now, on the ground, in almost every one of my pots. Most of the time I spend pulling it out. When I pull one out, two grow back, just like when I pull out a white hair, 2 new one come out of my head!!! The roots are invasive and suck a lot of nutrients from my beloved plants. It can even grow from my wall corners, stone crevices, my drains and empty flower pots! The only consolation is that it is very short and flowers are quite pretty. Talking about this alien invasion gives me a headache.

We-he-he-heel!! Happy Anniversary Darla! (early)

I have to say the plant I am least fond of (to put it nicely) is the privet shrubs I planted as my foundation plantings, right in front of my house. They just don't do it for me. I am about to get out my trusty loppers, and cut those suckers down! To be replaced with knock out roses. Ahhh! Much better.

Happy Anniversary!
I hope your celebration is filled with love!

Least favorite plant in my garden is the Ruelia, Mexican petunia. It is a really invasive plant.

Meems said...

Your bumbles are both enjoying the life of luxury in your pretty gardens, Darla. Hmmm... a plant I don't like? I think I'm mostly happy about most of them... but I do continuously fight with the running roots of that mexican petunia I planted over 10 years ago. It has bloomed so nicely over the last two months as it always does which makes me have a little mercy on my opinion. But the overarching challenge is to keep it from taking over. I wouldn't plant it again where I did. There is a massive bundle of it in the far back gardens that I allow to ramble and it hides my compost piles... so see... there's redemption to be found for every plant. Ha.

Happy Anniversary to you two love birds. Blending your family is a God gift.

Ha ha ha, that's an easy one! I don't like those big trees that block the view to my sons house just down the street :) Happy Anniversary!!!

Hi Girlie, Congrats on your anniversary tomorrow. Hope you two have a wonderful day!!!!!

If it's not too late, enter my name in your giveaway. A flower that I don't have and will not have in my yard are Petunias. They don't like me for some reason. I have great luck with Pansies --but none with Petunias.

Hugs,
Betsy

I had a Mock Orange, or a shrub that my mother said was a Mock Orange. But I don't believe it was a Mock Orange, and after putting up with it for 2 years, I had Jimmy mow over the top of it. Oh, so I guess that doesn't count since it isn't there anymore....well, as you can tell, if I don't like them, they don't have much of a chance. Let's see...I don't like Stella De Ora daylilies, think it is because they are soooooooo common in this area. I do have one, and guess what it is right up close to the front door. How did that happen? Since it is a daylily I just can't get rid of it, but it probably will get a new location at some point. They only good think about it is that it is STILL blooming. Had a fresh bloom on it this morning. Does this long story qualify for the drawing?

Happy Anniversary.... I wish you many many happy years ahead...
As I live in England.... if I get picked please give my prise to someone worthy who lives nearby... you then get to see the smile your gift will produce.
As for getting rid of something in the garden.... it would have to the slugs and snails... this year as been awful for them.
