Saturday Scenes Around Our House...

While I was busy transplanting some seedlings, my wonderful husband was mowing the lawn... sigh....and he did grin as he drove by! While I was doing some cleanup....ahem, I found some broken limbs.......see the culprit?
These belong to the people who were using the football...
A few shots of my gardens where I went to exhale after seeing the above activity in our yard..

Yes, I do like to twist the soft trunks and limbs of some of my trees...I love the look when all of the leaves have fallen. Some of you may cringe....but, do tell why?
To my surprise...We have Monarch Caterpillars, again.
We also have Monarch Eggs...
Ah, there she is laying the eggs...see her bottom tucked under?
After the Caterpillars completely stripped the Milkweed of all of it's leaves, I cut it back to the ground.....it's now growing back and the Monarch Butterfly is laying eggs here too.
As the temperatures cooled in the afternoon, husband decided to burn some old trees that have been pushed down.
This is what I see from the burn pile...side of our house..

and some of our back woods...

I hope you had a great weekend...Don't forget to enter my Give-A-Way, it's in the post before this one!

Your post is just like being there with you, Darla, football, shoes and all! Glad you have a place to calm your thoughts after such damage. We had a similar event here yesterday too, newly sprigged lavender cuttings, stepped on! Ommmm.

Darla: What a fun look at the garden and the butterflies. You have quite the nursery at your house.

I have that same Chrysanthemum growing too! I have no idea what variety it is.

Neat picture of the monarch laying her eggs. I don't think I have ever seen that before.

Darla, Looks like you all had a working weekend. Sometimes those are great aren't they? We need to have a clean up around here. I just love seeing those catipillars & butterflies.

Transplanting seedlings! Me too. I had a bunch of South African Ericas and Proteas that needed their freedom.

You have had wonderful success with you monarchs this year. They certainly seem to love the butterfly weed in my garden too.

You were all so busy last weekend.

This is like a typical weekend at my house. I felt right at home. You are teaching me alot about butterflys. I hope to be more observant when I am outside. Thanks!

Hi Darla,
Some lovely views of your pretty garden. Can't count how many times we've had 'kid damage' in the garden ... but I remind myself it is there for enjoyment first and throwing balls around is always going to be part of the activity around here. Plants recover right?

That is certainly prettier than the sight we are seeing right now. Butterflies, and branches......we are getting rain, and more rain.

Love your house, and the yard looks enormous. How do you manage to keep up?

Saturdays certainly look busy around your house, but I guess that is the price of having such beautiful gardens. It's neat that you still have Monarchs around laying eggs.

Your monarchs certainly are busy Darla! Sounds like you had a great weekend. The weather was so beautiful wasn't it? One of these days when I'm babysitting, the kids and I are gonna take a walk down your way.

Looks like you had a nice sunny weekend with your family. I can't believe all the Monarch activity you've still got going on there. I haven't seen a butterfly in weeks.

Hi Darla~~ It looks like your weather has turned very gardener-friendly, even Monarch-friendly. I love your landscape. It looks so peaceful and your house looks grand. And the pool... nice.
Ooh...those errant footballs! :) Happy anniversary. Please exempt me from the giveaway because you've given me a lot already! I love that you don't like popularity contests. Here, here!

I almost forgot, the pebbles were hard to walk on but now they've compacted pretty well and they're easier. I should have chosen smaller gravel but I was afraid it would scatter too easily. Chalk it up to experience. Hope you have a great day. Grace

Those daisies are gorgeous! I have a so so attitude toward child damage in the garden. As long as it is not trees it is okay because the plants recover-I hope!

Alas a gardener's job is never without some heartache when kids & pets are involved. ;) My dog Spaz did a number on one of my Coleus plants when she was chasing a squirrel.

How lucky you are to have so many butterflies! Your beds are so full and lush, a special treat for just a few up here right now.
We burned last week fun, fun!

Hi Darla, I've enjoyed catching up on your blog. It's hard catching back up after being gone.

Looks like you had an entertaining weekend at your house--including the football!!!! ha

Loved your 'fertilizer' post --as usual. Can't believe that your Monarchs are doing it again!!!!!

Glad to be home --after 3 trips back to back!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

Glad your Monarchs are still around. They are so pretty. I didn't see any this year.

You still have daisies? And Monarch caterpillars?
I have never seen one of those in real life. Guess it's not warm enough up here for them. I don't believe I even seen a Monarch butterfly this past summer.
