Fertilizer Friday

Can you believe we had Monarchs in the garden on Thanksgiving?
It's time to join the FF party over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ ... A few weeks ago or more I (DH) tucked a couple of plants under the shelter of the front porch to keep the frost from landing on them. Needless to say we have had very mild weather since then. The containers are too heavy for me to keep asking my husband to take them on and off the porch, so this is where they will live until Spring.

Painted Lady Hibiscus--she continues to bloom although I have noticed the blooms are a lighter color without some full sun exposure.

Here's the Diamond Frost Euphorbia that I am trying to overwinter as well. It will be brought inside or taken to the basement when freeze warnings are issued. I have always grown this in full sun. It's adjusted well in the shade.

Now let's look at some plants that are still thriving or beginning to thrive in my gardens.

I was very surprised to literally stumble on this Clematis bloom Wednesday.

Some of the Coneflowers are in various stage of bloom, there are even a few buds here and there.

The Dianthus has certainly enjoyed the 'not so hot' weather.

I purchased my first Lavender plant this past Spring. It bloomed very little in the Summer, now it's full of buds. Any growing tips for this are welcome.

Gerbera Daisy--Margarita

I normally buy yellow, purple and white Pansies, for some reason I fell for this reddish/maroon color.

Snapdragons are starting to bloom a little.

I have both white and pink blooms on one of my Guaras.

Rarely do I post my Double Knockout Roses.

My Sweet Violas will soon have this area filled in.

Right around the corner from the Violas the Alyssum is still blooming wonderfully and has the sweetest scent when you walk down the path.

I do hope everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Today I am Thankful for the fellowship we had with family on Thanksgiving .....and the chance of rain for today!

Those monarchs are most happy in your garden. And I don't blame them with all those flowers too!

I'm very impressed with your clematis blossom. Our clematis gave up the ghost several weeks ago. I really like that Gerbera Daisy.

That Monarchs butterfly is just so pretty! My diamond frost euphorbia seems declining recently, maybe I should take some cuttings in case I lose it. It is quite easy to propagate through cuttings.

Love both pink and white of Guaras. I got to look for it here.

I have two colors of snapdragon, and they are starting blooming too. Love your white ones!

I couldn't get that exact one this past summer and you can really tell a difference between the different types .. but wow with all of your other plants blooming .. we are waiting for the snow shoe to drop here .. cold with a few flurries has been just about the highlight of the day .. poor garden is finally going to sleep !

Darla, You are soooo fortunate to still have so much blooming color in your garden. We have lots of that cold white stuff on the ground already and below freezing temps. It was 11 degrees this morning so I'm so glad the butterflies are tended by you. They would freeze their little wings off here.

You have so much in bloom in your garden ... lots of lovely flowers to enjoy. My favourite is the Euphorbia ... I have a couple in my garden and they seem to thrive no matter where they're planted - full sun or part shade.

Love white Snapdragons too! Your Gerbera is a real stunner ... great colours!

Love your Diamond Frost Euphorbia! Just as beautiful as Baby's Breath. You asked about the 7th picture in my last post -- it's the rose Veilchenblau.

Hi Darla! I thought you have such a mild winter that you don't need to bring plants inside! Obviously, I was wrong... You always show us pretty flowers, I love hibiscus and euphorbis the most!

Thanks for commenting on my blog! It is fun to meet new gardening friends!

I just fell in love with the Guaras plant! I looked it up: is it hardy for zones 6-9? gorgeous.
