GBBD...

It's GBBD over at http://maydreamsgardens.blogspot.com/ ...Thanks Carol for hosting this monthly meme and for all of your informative and entertaining posts.

DH bought me a new tree on Saturday. One that I have been admiring for awhile on blogs and in yards in our downtown area.
I am very excitied about this new addition to my gardens and hope to collect seed from it.

I am going to try and overwinter one of my containerized Diamond Frost Euphorbias
and the Painted Lady Hibiscus.
She is quite content on the front porch for now.
Firespike is still blooming well. I have taken several cuttings of this as I do every year.
Dianthus 'True Love' is beginning to put on a show, she loves the cooler weather.
This is one plant that has surprised me. It was new to me at the beginning of Spring. It has been blooming non stop since I planted it. Now, if I could just remember it's name or where I
put it's name tag...? Please feel free to jolt my memory. **I was just visiting over at www.commonweeder.com and this Abutilon is posted there, Thanks !!**

Today I am Thankful for the 80% chance of rain in the forecast for tomorrow!

The flowers of your tree look like those of the yellow casia trees at KLCC Park. Soon it will grow tall and big and provide a home for the small creatures like the birds. May you have many wonderful memories built around this darling tree.

Hi Darla. What a pretty new tree. I love those little leaves on it. Brightens up a Fall garden doesn't it? The Hibiscus is gorgeous and does look very happy in its spot. Have a wonderful week.

I wasn't aware that the 'firespike' rooted well from cuttings... I was just gifted my first plant of it and was amazed at the length of the bloom period! L

I hope that you will be able to keep some of your container plants going all winter. Betsy has already brought her container plants in to keep them going. She has a special place that gets lots of sunlight.

Love those pretty yellow blooms on that tree. Don't think I've seen one before. But now that you've shown it to me I'll probably see them everywhere. LOL
Good luck with the overwintering and the cuttings!

What a gorgeous new tree. I've never heard of that type before. I love the flowers.
The Abutilon is one I'd love to grow here, but I think it's an annual. Beautiful flowers there!

That's a really pretty tree. Some of my most cherished gifts have been plants. :)

If your senna is anything like mine you will have no shortage of seeds and little trees popping up all over the place. I couldn't quite read the variety but the leaf looks quite like Lindheimer senna. I think the ones that grow here are C corymbosa. happy bloom day.

Love your blooms! I've found myself tempted by the Cassias lately as well...every time I see one in a nursery. Your Painted Lady is looking lovely. Mine has suffered so much from pests this year. And what a beautiful abutilon! Those always stop me in my tracks around town, but I never see them for sale at a nursery. I wonder why.

We are looking for much needed rain tonight -lots of things are died but the trees are beautiful for now.

Good luck with overwintering 'Diamond Frost' euphorbia. I actually left mine in the ground one mild winter, and it did fine. But last year's colder temps did it in. You've got a lot of great color still.

Hi Darla,
I love both the leaves and blooms of your new tree. Your other blooms are beautiful as well. I think all my dianthus plants are finished for the year. I hope your winter isn't as severe as the last couple you had.
