Bloomin' Tuesday...

It's time for Bloomin' Tuesday over at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ drop by and see what other gardener's have blooming today.

It is HOT, HOT, HOT here in North Florida. (for those of you that have read my profile, there is no Flowerville, Florida, I made that up)

I am love, love, loving seeing the Butterflies out everyday. Can't wait for the Monarchs to appear.

See the tall purple bloom left of center and the little light green bud to the right? They are on the same plant.
Balloon Flower--Platycodon grandiflorous. Full Sun/Part Shade, 6 inches to 2-Feet, zones 3-8, well drained soil, bloom time July-August.
New to me this year. "Fairy Coral Red" Abutilon. 1-2 Feet Full to Part Sun, Blooms from Spring until Fall. The blooms are a little small but deadheading enhances continuous bloom. I like the maple leaf look. Anyone know about this plant? Good or Bad experiences?

New to me this year are theWizard Sun Golden Coleus. Love the pop of yellow with the pinkish veins.
This is one of the projects that I had to complete before my surgery. I purchased some low maintenance plants, which I have been trying to do more of. Angelonias, mounding Verbena, Gerbera Daisies, mounding Zinnias, Vinca, Pentas and Marigolds. It will be nice when it's filled in.
I also purchased these beautiful yellow mounding Zinnias for another area that needed a pop of color.

Last year in the mist of my pink Callas a yellow one popped up...well she's back!

Shrimp Plant, false hop, shrimp bush, Justicia brandegeana 3-5 feet tall 3 feet wide, sones 8 - 11, water generously in hot weather was struggling so I potted it up.
Someone inquired a while back about the color of my Guara, well we purchased two pink a year or so ago..this is the middle of one that is over 6 feet tall
and this is the outside of it. The flowers range from white, to very pale pink to dark pink on this one.
On this one the flowers have remained mostly dark pink.
Time to trim up the Morning Glory in the wheelbarrow, it's attacking one of the Guaras.

I have also planted 30 4 inch pots of petunia, zinnia, carnation and lobelia seed and a flat of 18. Yes, I start seed year round here. These will be planted come end of the summer. Hey, my carnations are budding in the garden!!

I have a lot more to check off my list, better get busy!

Today I am Thankful that the sick kid is NOT sick anymore!!!

Hi Darla, wonderful butterfly photos. I was seeing lots of butterflies last week but since Sat it's been misting. Not enough rain to do any good, just enough to be icky.

Love those zinnias and the gaura. I had problems with mildew on my zinnias so I didn't plant any this year.

I love your butterfly pictures, as well as the pictures of flowers. The past couple days here in NW Pennsylvania have been chilly. It feels more like September than June!

The butterflies photots are beautiful. Everything is looking good. I noticed a darling couple in one of your flower beds. From a distance I thought they were precious moments kids.

Looks so lush and pretty in your beds , I know you are trying to get so much done before your surgeries, be careful not to overdo in this humid, yucky heat we have in the Deep South, take care, Gina

Hi Darla - Love your garden pics! So glad you stopped by my blog. I love being able to see gardens in other parts of the country. Beautiful calla lily - wish I could grow them here. Will definitely be back to visit.

Your guara is so huge! I'm going to have to amend my soil big time. Mine is not nearly as large yet. Mine returned after dying back this winter but "WOW!" to yours.

So pretty Darla! I tried to get a butterfly picture yesterday afternoon but it didn't work out. I'm not giving up though!

Hi Darla, the best thing about visiting your blog is it's like going to a tropical conservatory in the middle of winter. You have so much blooming all the time, and it's so much earlier then us.

Lovely.

Gorgeous butterfly shots Darla, so jealous! I haven't seen any of these flying flowers in the garden, of course when the temps rise I hide indoors. ;) I love all the wonderful plants you've added, those zinnias will fill in quickly and just be a great display of color all summer and fall.

Beautiful Darla. I have those same small yellow zinnia plants and they just keep on a bloomin. Love those balloon flowers. Mine didn't do anything much. I still have seedlings but they aren't growing much. Have a good day.

Your garden beds look so pretty Darla. I am always amazed at all the different plants you have and try. The Calla Lily is so beautiful. You have been a busy lady.

Beautiful garden! I love that Guara so much, but I just looked it up, and it seems for zone 5 to 9. Does that mean my zone10 garden is too hot for it?

I also have that yellow mounding zinnia. My 8 year old son brought them from school as a mother's day gift to me. I planted in the garden, they are looking beautiful!

Try not to do too much before the surgery. Stay cool!

What a fun garden, Darla. I put my shrimp plants in the ground because I hate to water containers. They like a bit of shade.

Darla, the photos of your garden are great! Love the butterflies. And you have many plants I haven't tried. Every year, I say I'll put in zinnias, which I love, and never get around to it. We don't do many annuals. Love yours, though, and am looking forward to watching the beds fill over the summer. ~~Rhonda

Hi Darla, Glad the 'sick kid' is WELL now... Hope nobody else gets the 'bug'....

Love your flowers.. That yellow canna is marvelous. I like pink--but the yellow is special...

My knee is better---quite sore, but normal after surgery. You will be happy once you have your surgery.

Hugs,
Betsy

I LOVE that you made up the name of your town, Flowerville. That is very funny. Please send some of your sun and heat out to Oregon. I promise not to complain about it when it shows up and things start wilting.

Hello Darla. The yellow calla is a showstopper.

I like the idea of your starting seeds now for fall and winter...but I am just counting the months, and down here, I think I had best wait till July 31 to plant seeds (indoors) to plant starting Nov. 1. I don't think anything could take the heat till then, down here. You are so lucky to be able to start earlier up there! I have those same yellow zinnias in my tires now,and they are so pretty!

I love all the color you have in your garden these days. It looks wonderful in spite of the hot weather.
I also like your butterfly pictures, but I'm less enthusiastic about your snake in the post below.

I really liked the yellow profusion zinnias this year. It was a new one for us at the nursery.

Beautiful pics Darla. As far as the Firespike goes it is finally putting on some new growth. No blooms yet. For the longest it just sat there doing nothing.

Hi Darla. You've sure been busy. I love the yellow coleus. My guara does nothing. I guess I should be happy it hasn't died. Great shot of the butterfly.

Noelle Johnson said...

Your garden is always so beautiful. I love the coleus. I have also noticed a variety of shades in pink gaura as well. Mine are medium pink.

Your gardens look great even with all the heat. Thanks for sharing.

The butterflies are so pretty! I haven't seen any still around here, they must like your hot weather better. I've never had Gaura look like yours! The pink always seemed to start reverting to white and often it doesn't survive winter here, but seeing yours makes me want to try some again.

Darla, Those butterfly photos are AWESOME! Wow! Love the flowers too, especially the calla lily.

Great butterfly photos, Darla. They make your garden complete along with bees, don't they! I get excited too when I see even a moth in my garden.
Lovely blooms. The morning glory is a real treat and grows well with little care. Only, its blooms doesn't last long and are very delicate...
