Bloomin' Tuesday...

Happy Tuesday everyone.
Please drop by http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com to see other late summer blooms.

After the 3 inches of rain from Lee we are back to no rain in the forecast. It has felt a little Fallish with the humidity so low which has been nice. I know Fall is close, not by the calendar, the acorns are beginning to drop and those really fuzzy caterpillars are showing up.

Mexican Bush Sage
Anyone who has followed my blog for any length of time should know I grow the very tall variety of Celosia. I never know how the plumes will look.

I also share the seed, just leave a comment and I'll get back to you.

AND I love how the Pinecone Lily/Shampoo Lily is turning this orangey/red color, perfect timing. Does anyone know if I can cut and dry this? I know it's full of liquid....guess I could shampoo my hair with it :)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I am Thankful for the beginning of the season change.
I love that picture in your header!!!
Shampoo your hair? Don't think I've heard that one before. It is a neat looking flower though. That's what I love about your blog, so much variety of flowers and a lot that I've never seen before.
I wanted to have some Mexican sage this year and found none. Oh well, maybe next year!
Your pinecone lily is super! I have no idea about drying it.
I too am so ready for a change in seasons. I have been enjoying being able to get outdoors again and enjoy the weather. You have some pretty blooms in the gardens. That Pinecone Lily is so unique. Go ahead and wash your hair in it and tell us what it feels like.
Shampoo Lily - maybe that IS how it got its name!!! I've not noticed the acorns dropping yet. I'm finally getting used to the idea of fall coming and summer ending. Pretty blooms.
Interesting and beautiful Pinecone Lily! I'd go for the shampoo, I don't think you could dry this.
That header photo is to die for. How did you do that? :) Love the Celosia. I know you already knew that! The Pine Cone lily is also awesome. I love that peachy-pink color too. I've never grown it so I don't know about how to dry it or if it's possible. I hope you can though.
The acorns have started hitting my garage door and I can hear the echo all through the house! I don't mind it though because I love fall.
Last year I hung upside down, three of my Pinecone flowers in a dark shed and all they did was shrivel up... then this year I took some advice from a friend and put them in a shoe box with corn meal, for a few weeks.. she said, they will hold their color and be very dried.. just remove the stems first... well it's into two weeks for me... good luck!
Nice post!
Great post. My Pine Cone lily is blooming also. I have washed my hair with the fluid that is in the bloom & it left my hair soft & silky. That's all the natives used long ago. I have heard that it can be frozen. Think I'll try it this yr.
If anyone wants a start just let me know----via Darla's blog.
Hi Darla,
I love your header photo, too! That pinecone lily is cool. Your celosia is, too.
You asked me about seeds, I think from love lies bleeding, and maybe some kiss me over the garden gate. The love lies bleeding has taken awhile to turn the color it does when I think the seeds have formed. I took off a few of them, and will see if there are seeds in them. I forgot to check the kiss me's, but the blooms still look good. I'll let you know when the seeds look ready.
Did you move blogs? I must have missed something.
The Celosia is quite pretty, I find them appealing to touch.
The pinecone lily is amazing, how cool is that!
Hi Darla,
I hope you're having an awesome week! I thought you might like this infographic I helped build about the health, mental, and financial benefits of gardening (http://blog.lochnesswatergardens.com/how-gardening-benefit/).
If you think your readers would like it too, please feel free to use it on More Family and Flowers blog. There's code at the bottom of our post that makes it super easy to post on your blog. It's all free (of course). If you have any questions about posting it, let me know and I'll try to help.
I don't know where else to contact you so I just posted a comment here. :)
Thanks!
My neighbor cut me a pinecone lily; it seems too full of liquid to dry. I'm wondering if there are seeds inside?
