Cottage Flora Thursday and FF

I know we all keep saying this, how does the time get by us so quickly?
The first photo is actual rain! We received 3/10 of an inch last evening. My apologies to those that are dealing with the rain from Irene.
Variegated Hydrangea, maybe it will bloom next year.

Balloon Flower

More than a thug is Glorybower, this garden harlot has spread herself all over one of the garden "beds." Seriously, I am going to be yanking her up by her thin legs and tossing her out!

Turkscap with Mexican Sunflower.

Nope the "white" Marigold isn't. I can handle the soft buttery yellow though.

Zinnia from seed and it was supposed to be pink.

?? Oh, I know their names. I made an area out of bricks for a container grouping. Some of the plants just gave up in the heat/drought and the others took it as a challenge. See the Sedum and the Creeping Phlox? It has just about covered the bricks. Volunteers came up through the little holes in the bricks.

I have also been making wall hangings out of clay.

The butterflies have been loving our heat. We see no less than 10 butterflies at a time.

And the Hummingbird Moths are everywhere as well.

Glad you got at least a little rain for your garden. The hydrangea is pretty even without the blooms. Mine had one measly bloom. LOL! I really like those Mexican Sunflowers Darla. Is orange growing on me? LOL! I knew your were creating something!

I wish we'd get some. We have had no rain since the end of June. Things are BROWN here... AND--it's still hot (in the 90's). I'm SO ready for FALL--and some rain!!!

Glad you got some. Looks like you may get more from the storm in the gulf...

Great pictures.. Things look good down there despite the long, hot, dry summer.
Hugs,
Betsy

Yeah for the rain! We have our fingers crossed for some from the new tropical storm in the gulf. We hope we hope we hope! Lovely butterflies.

Glad you got some rain Darla. I love your clay signs, so cute. That variegated Hydrangea is pretty, hope it blooms next spring. :)

Glad for you that you got some rain! We have lots of butterflies and butterfly moths here too and they've been loving the heat. I wish I loved the heat as much as they do. Snow-on-the-Mountain is an annual Euphorbia and really eye-catching and easy to grow. I don't know if it tends to seed itself around or not.

Rain refreshes everything, even the soul ♥

Your gardens still look great...mine are so parched I didn't even join this week. I think I'm a little parched too...not my most fav time of the year.

How wonderful to see all those butterflys and moths! There was a huge moth on our screen the other night, but I was too tired to get a photo..now I kick myself. :/

Have a great holiday weekend!

Right, I've found your new blog. I'm glad I did because I really enjoyed all the blooms you shared in this post. The Hummingbird Moths are so lovely and make a great photo.

I really like your supposedly white Marigolds. They look exactly like the ones I'm growing that are called 'Vanilla Marigolds'. I love the creamy colour. Glorybower is rather pretty for a thug, but I understand why she has to go!

rebecca said...

I'd sure like to know more (how to make) those clay wall hangings)! Do they weather well?

What fun to see your various flowers. Great variety!
