Locust are showing up!
We saw quite a few Butterflies.
I captured this one in flight.
The Bees were also hard at work.
Balloon Flower Platycodon grandiflorus
After about 3 weeks with only 2/10 of an inch of rain http://muddybootdreams.blogspot/ and I scheduled a rain dance. (Don't know how long it's been since she received rain) Apparently the dance was successful. Last evening we received over 2 inches of rain in just a few hours. Feast or Famine!! Thankful for it though. Grab your umbrella and head on over to http://muddybootdreams.blogspot.com/ !

Glad your rain dance worked for you. We haven't had any rain either in awhile & I could use some. Love the shot of the butterfly in motion! ;)
Thanks for mentioning the rather too successful rain dance.
Carolynn at A Glowing Ember, and Lori at Family Trees may contain Nuts, are not too happy with me.
Since they both live relatively close to me, I have had to do a reverse Rain Dance.
But it worked, and we have had just enough rain to make things beautiful, but not so much that they will never visit my blog again.....LOL.

The black butterflies are so pretty, We do not have the black and yellow one up this way. It is just beautiful. We do not have those pesky locusts either.
Glad to see you changed your comments so I can continue to visit you. Some still have the embedded comments and I just had to stop visiting since I can't comment.
Well, I am suppose to be sorting my own photos, but I had to grab the butterfly reference book to find out what butterfly you have. The Thoas Swallowtail. Never seen one. Says the adult visits lantana and viburnum. So guess I won't be seeing them. But then again my butterflies don't seem to know what is in the book. :)
Thanks for the rain dance Darla! We sure needed it.
Wow, Darla... You are going to have the Green Creek --running through your yard... Maybe someday you'll have a waterfall too!!!!!!
Love your butterflies... So many beautiful ones!!!!
Poor little Brother and Sister.. Soon they'll be covered up. BUT--in winter they will RETURN... Right????? ha
When do you go to GA?
Hugs,
Betsy
OH---Forgot to ask you to do the Rain Dance for us please. It's finally cooler here today -but the rain went all around us yesterday.. We need some too!!!
Thanks, B
Better rescue brother and sister. That's quite a trench, I got tired just looking at it. I'm sure the butterflies love it around your place.
That butterfly is awesome. What kind is it? I've never seen one before. I hope you get rain soon, but only after hubby finishes the ditch.
I hope you'll send some of that rain up this way -- we need it. Your garden is really looking wonderful, even with the lack of rain.
Really enjoyed your butterflies. Beautiful. That trench is quite a project. I hope it works well for you after all the work he's put into it.

Gosh I love creativity. I'm not much of a gardener although I've managed to grow some killer tomatoes this year!!!!
Well, you had some great weekend sightings! I love the butterfly shots, especially the one in flight.
Glad you got some rain. Your flowers are just beautiful and the pictures of the butterflies are amazing. Have a wonderful Monday!

You captured some wonderful butterfly photos! They must think your yard is heaven with all your blooms!
P.S. I hope you don't mind me asking - but did they ever catch those bad guys that invaded your son's home?
your poor hubby! that is a BIG JOB! I love the pics! I can never catch any butterflys or anything on my camera! : )
Lovely photos!! Thanks for sharing.
Warmly,
Tracey
Darla: It is too hot to be digging ditches. That is hard work. I love you butterflies and cool to get one flying.
Darla,
you are working that poor husband like hired help! I hope he didn't dig all that by hand in this heat.--Randy
Do an extra rain dance for us, we are still dry! Wonderful pictures. Love the locust and the butterflies!
OMG! I've never actually seen a locust! AAH! I still remember in Little House on the Prairie when the locust hoard covered the house, now I really know how frightening it must have been! Your butterflies are so pretty, zebra swallowtails are so flashy! I love torenia, my grandma used to have them in her windowboxes.
Those butterflies are lovely! I don't think we have some of those species here in central NC.
Thank for asking ,I have my moments but I am doing ok. Love your Butterfly Photo's
Patsy
Hard working hubby !
Wonderful blooms.
My Balloon Flowers didn't show themselves this year.
Come to think of it I'm missing a few other plants. :(
glad you got some rain!!! your photos are fabulous!!!
I guess I need to do a rain dance. Still no rain over here.
You have such a wonderful variety of plants, leaf shapes and colours. Great butterfly pics too
Do you rent out your rainmaking services? All of us in California sure could use your help right now!
Very nice butterflies!
Hi Darla, I haven't been by for awhile!
I love your pictures of the butterflies! Great catch on camera!

Oh man, your hubby is about to lose all his H2O so you best make him rest a bit. That is a very long ditch and you'd never be able to dig that in our soil unless you had a good back hoe. Nice that you got some rain and boy we need some now.
