The two medium kids have been at a Youth Conference the last 4 days. Small kid, myself and her Dad have been hanging out together. We have had a wonderful time enjoying her without the influence of siblings. (if you have more than one child you know what I mean)
Today she wanted to go to the Tallahassee Museum and bring Sidekick along. (Sidekick is a small kid that I have babysat since before he could walk-- more like part of the family)
This is a small portion of the things you can see at this Museum..When I was a small kid is was called the Jr. Museum.
Eagle
Owl
Old Farmhouses--equipped with the bare essentials used long ago.
Cougar
Bear
Always a funny place to take a photo!
Small Kid and Sidekick by an old storage house.
Path up to the tamer animals.
Small Kid in the Outhouse! (Yes, she is sitting on the hole)
Cow
Goats
You know these two photos were very hard for me to take.......Small Kid and Sidekick said I did very good in the snake area!!! (They had no idea the shaking that was going on)
One of their all time favorites............
The Caboose!
This was on the bottom left of the Church.
Inside the Church
Very interesting history about the Bellevue Plantation
Bellevue Plantation House
The cook house was often off from the main house because of the heat....This is part of the cook house.
Out behind the Main House was the slave quarters........I tried to photograph the inside but it was just too dark.
The medium kids will be back late tonight. Maybe I can get back into my routine........Oh wait....Thursday Sidekick's Mom and I will be canning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'll post that for sure..

It looks like a nice time was had by all. Great pictures. My skin would be crawling looking at those snakes. They're huge, not like the black snakes we see around here.
Enjoy canning. That is something I never learned. It's too hot I guess down here in FL and there's no place to store the goodies afterwards.

I love visiting places like that. I would have skipped the snake house;) I'm into researching genealogy and those old buildings fascinate me.

It's always wonderful to get one on one time with your kids. :)
The one with the kid in the outside is priceless. I just checked out your last blog. Love your folk art.
Do you live in northern FL? We live way down on the s.e. coast. We've lived here since we were kids. DH's mom canned when she lived up north, in the early 50's, but not after they moved here in 57. I never knew anyone who canned down here, so never learned. Where do you store your canned goods? Do you can your own produce?
Sorry to hijack your thread, but I didn't see a way to contact you. :-)

Well I had fun with the kids, thanks for the tag along.

How much fun!!! Good to have quality time with the small kid! Looks like ya'll had a great time!
Oh Darla!
This looks like fun. I would say a good time was had by all. I loved the pics. You did a great job. I loved the bear. Our Phoenix zoo does not have bears. I also liked the caboose. What fun. Thanks so much for sharing and for stopping by. You have to start hitting some sales, or thrift stores. At least once a month. Put it on your agenda. Country Hugs honey, Sherry
It looks as if you had a great day at the museum. I lived in Tallahassee for two years and Bellevue Plantation sounds very familiar. I'll have to go through my photos and see if I've been there.
Sounds like a good time. I love museums and I love the plantation.
That would be a fun and interesting place to visit! (Minus the snakes of course!) Can't wait to see what you're canning! I've made strawberry jam, and next is Blueberry and then Blackberry when it comes in season in Michigan.
It's fun to enjoy kids one at a time. Very interesting post of your trip!
This looks like so much fun. Canning? Wow. I can't wait.
Looks like you and the kids had a fabulous time. It's so nice to be able to spend time with the younger ones.
Never heard of the musuem, but it looks interesting. I went into the Native Florida exhibit at the Jacksonville Zoo and those snakes are scary. I can't believe how many venomous snakes live here. The African Snakes are even worse looking, lol.

Darla: I love this place and it looks like a fun place to visit. We had a report of a Black Bear near town in the Kent State University area.
Very nice pictures of one of my favorite places!
Very interesting day, I am sure. Nice series of photos.

What a great adventure for you all!! Thank you so much for sharing all your photos...it reminds me so much of a similar place we used to visit when I was a child (right down to the ma and pa cut outs for photos :). It's a pleasure to visit here!
Warmly,
Tracey
P.S. Can't wait to see/hear what your canning!
P.P.S. Please forgive me if this is a double post...I'm not sure if my first one went through! :)
You have the best vacations! I know you weren't on vacation, but it sure looked like a good time was had by the kids and adults! gail
I know what you mean about having just one kid at home. As nice as summer vacation is, the kids do need a break once in awhile from each other.
I love how you did the pictures in sepia. It looks like a very fun place with lots to do.
Hey Darla, That is one neat museum... I can understand why kids would love it. And that Bellevue Plantation looks interesting also. Seems as if you all had a wonderful day.
Can't wait to hear about the canning!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
That is a mighty good museum to have all those live exhibits. I bet Sidekick had an awesome time.
What a fun post of a fun day! I think my favorite is of them inside the caboose. How long will you be calling your daughter Small Kid? LOL
Awesome outing and your youngins are picture perfect. I laughed at the pot sitting in the chair toward the end---that chair won't last long will it?
So the middle kids came here to NC..well that is grand. I hope they have lots of good stuff to tell.
Sounds like an interesting kind of place. I meandering around in places like this.
Thanks for sharing!
