Outdoor Wednesday--Words.

Duranta erecta (verbena family)-Golden Dewdrop. Warning: Attractive fruits are poisonous to humans. DO NOT use in children's play areas.
Sun loving Coleus, (oxblood) color intensifies with heat and potato vine in container.
Crinum
Impatiens, Caladiums, Hosta and Lantana in the back.
Does anyone know this Begonia? Ms. Doris gave me a piece of it and it's filled this entire container. Blooms light pink. Ms. Doris has had this for a long time and cannot find another like it.
Gerbera
What do you do with bird feeders that really aren't? I stuck Sedum in this one.
Torenia, Sweet Potato Vine, New Guinea Impatiens, Amaranthus, Begonias and Bromeliad (Queen's Tears) in the back left.

Painted Lady on Purple Coneflower.
Catherine over at http://agardenerinprogress.blogspot.com/ these Crocosmia would probably do well in your dry shade...Want one?
Hamelia patens - Firebush can grow to 15ft in ideal conditions.
and Clematis! For more Outdoor Wednesday click http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com/ or Wednesday Words click http://muddybootdreams.blogspot.com/
While I was in the store Monday, someone hit the back quarter panel on the drivers side of my car...Was there a note or anything left for me to contact them? Well NO!! I would not have been able to sleep that night if I had dented someone's car and just left...what about you?

I love seeing the variety you have! That sedum bird feeder / plant holder was very nice!
Sorry to hear your car was hit - can't believe that the turkey that hit you didn't at least leave a note!

Pretty flowers and butterflies. How can you stand to be around such beauty every day? tee hee
Sorry to hear about your quarter panel. I can't believe they didn't even leave a note.
First, I couldn't sleep at night.
Second, they would find me, I'm sure of it.

That's terrible about someone hitting your car Darla! That person should be ashamed of themselves for not leaving a note. What goes around comes around I always say.

Wow you have a fabulous garden. Lots of huge leaves that really put on a show.

That's awful about your car. I once nicked the side of a car on a walk in Germany. It scuffed the paint and I waited over an hour for the person to come out. They were so nice they never even made a claim. But! My van was hit in a parking lot. I had a customized Chevy Astro maxed out. The person hit the rear bumper and pulled off several pieces of the custom bumper and took off. Of course they did stop-long enough to pick up the pieces to try to hide their crime. It made me so suspicious and angry for a long time. This was in Germany and the American community was small. I knew it was an American too. I tried to find the car to no avail. I don't know how folks live with themselves and when it happens to them-I say good!

What an atrocity!! I hate rudeness! whoever did it deserves many sleepless nights!

Everything is so beautiful! My favorite is the coleus and bright green sweet potato vine! Gorgeous contrast!

Oh, I'm so sorry about your car! I hate that for you. But I am happy that you have such lovely flowers in your garden and shared them with us! I wish I had your green thumb and could grow flowers as pretty as yours. It seems I live at the garden center replacing things that die! But yours are as pretty as a picture!

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!

XO,

Sheila :-)

love your color combos, the sedum in the cool blue bird house is too cool:) I see you made it back safe and sound!!! (a 15 ft firebush? That would be something to see:)

Your plants are overflowing they've gotten so big and pretty! I'd love to try the Crocosmia, I had no idea they'd grow in dry shade. Thanks!
I can't believe people just hit cars and leave. It's happened to me several times, once they practically totaled the car. My dad once saw someone hit his car and when he said something they said "no I didn't" and left. Hope the damage wasn't too bad.

Dani said...

No, I would have never done something like that! That's just so rude!

Your flowers are so pretty. How lovely a view you have.

No, I wouldn't have done it either. When I was a teen two of our cars and our neighbor's car was parked on the street.

A bunch of guys had been drinking and hit both our cars and our neighbor's car (well, they knocked it into ours).

They just bailed out of their car and left it there, so we didn't need a note, lol!

What a great idea you had for the bird feeder. It remind sme of a hanging strawberry pot like I have my Hen and Chickens in.

I remember my moms car ebing hit by a Rumpke Garbage Truck in KY and they didn't leave a note. A person who saw it happen did and left thier number if we neeeded a witness. She didn't have to go to court over it once she said thier was a witness and a huge white paint mark across the car and in the huge dent. They decided they would just go ahead and pay for it.

More beauty in Darla's garden. Looks like everything is fine --after your little vacation. Did you have anyone watering and watching things for you? We always struggle leaving our yard when we go on vacation... BUT--I'm determined not to be a slave to my yard, as much as I love it!!!!

Glad you had a nice vacation.
Hugs,
Betsy

Beautiful photos. I especially enjoyed seeing the butterfly. My garden has been full of black swallowtails laying eggs. We have about 17 caterpillars inside (8 already in the chrysalis) and counted 20 or so outside on the parsley.

Your garden looks gorgeous! All those chartreuses and burgundys and fuschias look so bright & cheery. Sorry about your car, they should have left you a note.

#1 I wouldn't sleep either if I dented someone's care and didn't leave my contact info. I'm sorry about your car.

#2 - your gardens are so gorgeous and all the blossoms are just so pretty. I wish I had more shade to grow some of those beauties.

Gorgeous as always!
I have a couple of those fire bushes in my yard, they get very wilted every afternoon in the summer. By morning they look great - what is the ideal location for these?
And no, I could never just take off if I hit someones car. I'm sorry about what happened to yours.

Sorry about the car, people can be so bad. Looks like your garden came back just beautiful after that storm and so much rain.

Beautiful flowers -- so much color!!

I feel your pain with regard to your car -- someone hit my truck in a Lowe's parking lot a few years back and managed to do over $3K worth of damage.
