Fertilizer Friday

Time to join FF over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com , she is also having a give-a-way. After I dropped the youngest medium child at school this morning I found myself browsing the nursery center...Oh, how the flowers and plants are pouring in. I used some self-control and only purchased a few things.
Two Camelot Foxglove, Two Spanish Lavender and
a Callie Bright Red Calibrachoa.
Lets' have a small look inside the greenhouse this morning.
The Voltage African Daisies are ready to be moved into the garden.
A rooted Jacobina is finally putting on some new growth at the bottom. whew!
Jane Cowell Hibiscus was planted in the garden through most of the winter...about three weeks ago it was looking rather (dead) sad. This was a surprise replacement from my husband last spring when the winter took my first one away from me. I dug it up and put it in a container, it is now putting out some leaves..another whew!
At the end of summer I received another surprise, this time in the mail. I commented about Jean's beautiful white Rose of Sharon tree and the next thing I knew I had three little ones delivered right to my door! They went dormant on the front porch until the end of December, I then put the container in the greenhouse...viola! Thanks Jean!
Diamond Frost is doing wonderfully...Nasturtium in the foreground that I started from seed, they are such a pretty green.
Overwintered Ornamental Potato Vine...I also have cuttings rooting..the more you cut the bushier it gets.
My heart just sang a song first thing this morning. The youngest medium kid was looking out the kitchen door and she said.. "It looks so pretty in the greenhouse, may I go in there?" Me: "Well of course you can." I was grinning the entire time I was getting my camera!

Hoping to have a few different blooms for GBBD on the 15th..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I am Thankful for the little things that make my heart sing!
How sweet your daughter likes the greenhouse. A gardener in the making? Very sweet of Jean to send you some plants from her garden too!
I can feel the stirrings of spring fever and can tell you do too. You have reminded me to buy another lavender plant. Your greenhouse looks so wonderful, and combines utility and beauty.
Your daughter should have known you would take her picture, love your flowers too, as always, my gardener friend.
Sweet post Darla. The greenhouse is looking so full and lush. It's a good feeling when someone wants to see whats going on the greenhouse. Have a great weekend.
OOoooooo now I'm just going to have to go to a nursery tomorrow when I go into town since you said stuff is pouring in. I checked a couple of weeks ago and nothing, nada, squat. Well, maybe there were a few things but not what I was looking for.
How nice you got the Rose Of Sharons - they look good. I looked at the Sedums you sent me yesterday to see how they're doing in this cold weather and they look good. Hooray! Something lived! LOL
Love that shot of youngest medium kid in the greenhouse. Could it be a young gardener is sprouting? I can see you also have trouble passing up plants at the nursery! I just bought dahlia tubers and bare root plants at Costco--couldn't resist. :)
Darla, thank you for sharing your blooms with me. Everything in your greenhouse is just bursting with life. And how nice your daughter is taking an interest in the greenhouse, too!
It's so nice to see all your colorful flowers, Darla! Definitely makes me anxious for some flowers in my own garden. I have a hankering for that Diamond Frost Euphorbia, do you have to bring it in even down there in Florida? It just looks so twinkly, it's hard to resist even knowing I will have to overwinter it in a window.
Love that shot of your daughter in the greenhouse, hope she's getting the gardening bug.
I think it's wonderful that your daughter is attracted to the beauty in your greenhouse. Thanks for sharing the greenery and the blossoms you have around you. We're going to have to wait several weeks before we see any of that op here.
Just having kids who love what we do will certainly make our hearts sing. My youngest son and his son have been doing some hiking and camping. I love it that they love the out-of-doors like I do!!!!!
Love your plants in the greenhouse. I truly am envious... That was one of the best gifts you could ever have gotten.
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Darla,
Oh how jealous I am of your green house...I would love one, but there are so many things "on the list" above it, couple be a few years (decades) before it happens lol.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog today, I am glad to report the sun peeked out here around lunch time and according to weather.com, should be around for the next 10 days yay...Where is here you asked...I am south of Trenton, which is west of Gainesville...also known as the middle of nowhere hehe.
Hope you got to enjoy the sunshine today...Blessings Kelsie
Hi Darla, So glad to hear you will have blooms for GBBD! There is nothing blooming around here after the killer freezes we've had over the last couple of weeks :/ I did find some leaves emerging from the hydrangea today...maybe a little something for foliage follow up!
Beautiful plants.
Admire your self control at the nursery. Always a dangerous place for me to venture as well. So hard to resist the wonderful plants on offer.
How are you loving that greenhouse? Yours is so beautiful and inviting. Do you carry buckets of water out to the house to water? Questions - Questions - BUT I just love being able to learn and share from one another.
Thank you for sharing your blooms on Fertilize Friday for us Northerners to enjoy.
It must be wonderful to have a greenhouse to help you overwinter plants. And isn't it great that your daughter has taken an interest in what is going on in the greenhouse.
Your posts make me long to get my hands dirty in the soil. Have to wait, we're still frozen here. It may reach 50 here tomorrow, but another snow storm is on it's way after the warm front. In the mean time I have beautiful blogs to view like yours that have color in their gardens.
Nice post Darla, it is so surprising and heart warming when one of your children becomes interested in your passion.
The greenhouse looks good!
Your greenhouse looks as though it has been there forever! I bet you are glad whenever any of your kids show an interest in gardening. I wish my kids were more into it. Glad to see your tropical hibiscus survived. Mine have proven to be root-hardy in bad winters as well. I miss the days when our CenFla winters were so warm that they bloomed all year.
It's really greening up in there.
Don't just love it when the kids show interest in something you are doing?
Around here it doesn't happen often but when it does I'm grinning just like you!1
Nice to see that things are warming up in your neck of the woods - we're still in the middle of winter here. I look forward to the influx of plants to browse in the spring. Meanwhile, I'm still looking for beauty in the winter scenes around me and will post some new photos soon.
