This and That...

This is what our way back looked like after those 4 inches of rain... Ms. Doris three doors down, Raechel was wondering how your gardens looked after the rain...
Yesterday afternoon as my husband and I walked around the yard he spotted the first Crocus bulbs emerging...HOORAY! I haven't grown these in years...I am so excited.
I spotted the first Hyacinth Bulbs emerging
and Autumn Joy Sedum.
Yesterday I did some clean up in the Full Sun Garden...It sure does look bare now. Soon the Daffs will bloom bringing some much needed color to my gardens.
Thank you Jean at http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/ for this plaque from your give-a-way. It's hanging on our front porch. Pop on over and give Jean a Hello, tell her Darla sent you!

Have a Blessed weekend.

Today I am Thankful for the beauty that surrounds me.

It's good to see signs of Spring in your garden. Now I just have to be patient until I see some up here!

My lower garden was completely covered in water. All the debris from the creek ended up in my flower beds, so I have a lot of cleanup to do. My hyanciths are coming up, too. Miss Doris

I'm trying not to be envious of those first signs of spring, which will be a long time comin' here! Today it is snowing heavily, althought the temp is above freezing...very pretty, but hubby is out raking the roof to avoid too much buidup.

Shall we send flippers? Hopefully this water will recede soon. Crocus, and hyacinth, life is good.

Love that plaque, for a long time I hand painted signs, and sold them in the nursery. This one is lovely, congrats on winning.

It's good to see the bulbs sprouting! I was out puttering around the yard and noticed some of my bulbs have green leaves 3 or 4 inches long. I can hardly wait!

That's a lot of water! How exciting to see those Spring bulbs popping up.
I just love that plaque that you won, I'd love to find one just like it.
Hope it's drying out there!

Hi Darla, My father-in-law calls his "way back" the Back 40....

Love your spring flowers popping up. How exciting is that. We don't want ours to pop up too quickly since I'm sure that winter is not finished with us here.

Hugs,
Betsy

Great water feature! ;) I'm glad you all didn't get more, I think we're in for some soon. I can't wait to see some of those spring bulbs begin sprouting here. I've seen the daffs but that's about it.

Darla I really must get out today and see what is poking out of the soil in my garden too. We have huge puddles here from the snow and ice melting. The birds are having a wonderful time splashing in them.

Rosie :)

Hope you are feeling alot better this weekend

Darla, I'm glad you liked the plaque. It looks great hanging. I found it at Peebles, if anyone is interested. Since I haven't even been visiting lately I didn't know your health scare. Glad it's not too serious. Love seeing the spring blooms! We may see some grass today after 45 and rain! Jean

Looks like you have really gotten a lot of rain Darla. Yes, bulbs coming up. We will have pretty blooms to look at before we know it.
I love your bird and sign. Pretty!

Hi Darla, And your emerging bulb foliage isn't dotted with slug bites. How strange. :) Don't you wish you could somehow capture all that water and deploy it during the dry times?

Isn't it wonderful to find everything springing up in the garden? Now, about that rain ... Very cute plaque.

How exciting!!! I used to have daffodils when I lived in Gainesville for 10 years! Bulbs don't do much here in south Florida, sadly...except maybe inside. I am so happy to remember their beauty!!! The sedum will be so beautiful as well.

I can sure tell you are in zone 8 with talk of crocus, daffs, and hyacinth. No way can we grow those down here. We got some good rain, too. Not that much but 2.5".

Wow, that's a lot of water! Isn't it amazing to see the spring flowers just shoot up through the dirt, mulch, bark or grass?

I have that same "Home the perfect nest" sign and I have it just sitting on a table in my living room!

It will be a while before we have new growth like your's here in Ohio. To reply about the hawk being in a book... I left the following comment on the blog under your comments...

The last time I looked, I had about 5,000 photos of Coopers Hawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks. But mostly Coopers Hawks. The choices seem endless -- to pick a few for a book would be a nightmare for me as I have many images that are favorites.

What a little (or in your case...a lot) of rain will do. Soon you'll be enjoying your beautiful spring blooms.

Goodness! The weather sure has been kooky! Your flower list has made me think about our spring, can't be soon enough!

Spring is really showing its head now... it will not be long at all.. I'm looking forward to seeing your garden through the seasons Darla..
By the way, when you picked Mushrooms I was pleased... I have always liked taking pictures of them... but that dose not mean I have this weeks header contest in the bag... each week we all seem to be putting more thought into it.

Any sign of spring coming is wonderful. It's lightly snowing here. Spring is one of my favorite times of year as you get to see everything come to life with such beautiful color.
