Darla first congrats on the Silver Medal winner at GGW. I loved your picture of the ice drops.
You have a good start on your seeds girl. Looking good!
I love the yellow bird in the picture although I do not know what kind it is.
It is fun to see new things growing again.

It's definitely time to put out some seeds! I'm hoping once this snow melts to put some spinach in some beds. For now I'll just have to work indoors!

Hi Darla, wow, you have some magic going on there with sprouts so quickly! Thanks for the link love. Your garden is going to be fabulous. Most of my seeds are outside in milk jugs, etc. ala Monica's winter sowing method, including seeds from you, my dear friend. Too cold and too soon for them yet, we have crunchy snow on the ground still, what a rarity. Our best seedlings are those that were sown in October in the greenhouse, dahlias and salvias. A lesson to learn from that I believe.
Frances
Did I congratulate you for the photo silver prize? If not, well done! :-)

I love it when the birds fluff themselves up like that! I saw a bluebird pair in my front yard yesterday when I got home from church.

I'm seedless at the moment too.
You are doing well over there Darla.

We have seedlings! WOOHOO!

Hi Darla~~ Looks like your garden is off and running. Sprouting seeds are one of the major joys of gardening, don't you think? To get a tiny green thing out of a tiny brown nut, nothing short of miraculous.

No mention of your beating heart. All is well, I hope and pray.

The seeds and seed pods and flats brings back a lot of memories. I tried to do that and did it for years using florescent lights like they use these days to grow marihuana plants. And it worked but not like these look.

I think that I am going to hold off a little longer before starting my seeds. Last year the sunflowers were over 2 feet tall, and it was too early to put them outside.

Your seedlings give me hope, that soon it is going to be spring, everywhere.

I saw this post and all the seedlings and I was reminded of this poem...

Mary, Mary, quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells,
and cockle shells,
And pretty maids all in a row.

You have lots of work ahead of you... but the results will be beautiful I'm sure Darla

Looks like you have a great start. I am planning on growing tomatoes. I am starting out small and I will gradually add more...we will see how it grows....:) I like the purple blooms around your mailbox.

I'm glad to hear it, Darla! Keep up the good work, er, potassium!

Those seedings are looking good. I'd better not start mine for a couple of months or they'll get way too big before the last frost date of May 15 here.
And it was nice to hear from you at my blog - thanks!

I've got lots of seedlings too. Blue flax, siberian wallflower, rudbeckia, malva zebrina, a couple hollyhocks, some hibiscus (seems early), and several others I can't remember. I need to get out there and sort my sprouts from my non sprouts. A few more weeks of growth and I'll be planting out the hardiest perennials. You can do that when you wintersow and leave them outside from sowing through planting. Starting seeds indoors is almost a thing of the past for me. I'll be showing some more of my seedlings tomorrow. Looks like they made it! Sorry Barry Manilow.

Looks like your seeds ARE sprouting and doing well, Darla. We have some bulbs popping up---but they probably will turn around and go back into hiding now that we are covered with ice and snow. ha ha

Love the Goldfinch... He's so fluffy!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

How exciting to see all those seedlings! You're going to have fun filling your garden this year. How neat to have so many seeds from so many gardening friends. I hope you're feeling well, and taking it easy!
PS Thanks for the very nice comment on my post today :)

Hi Darla,
Cute little fluffy bird. Trying to stay warm I suppose. I've still got veggies growing and new seeds sprouting, too... lettuce, radish, greens, cassia alata. I start almost all (except tomatoes)of mine right in the ground. That is quite a set-up you've got.

I promised the Saint that I would not start anything inside this year. I have the worse luck with seed starting and they also look tacky in the sunroom. Plus the cats can be an issue. I so am tempted after seeing your seedlings though! You might have “slim pickens” but I would be happy with those picks this time of year! The cold birds are so fluffed up and yellow. I assume Gold Finches?

I am grateful for the views out my window, even though soggy...

No seedlings yet. I planted some last year and had some success, so I may try that again. You are surely making progress with yours--that's great;-)

If you'd like to participate in my garden bloggers sustainable living project, I'd like you to. There's a give away, as well. Jan

Haven't planted any seeds yet.. though you have just spurred me on to get myself into gear. I'm sure I could get a few early peppers and chillis into the heated propagator in the greenhouse. It's still below freezing here at night though! brrrr

You have a great headstart! I am praying the groudhof was wrong and going to start some seeds indoors this week. I can't wait to get outside and play in the dirt again!
