Fertilizer Friday

Please visit http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ to join the party and flaunt your flowers!

The girls and I have being playing catch-up in the gardens. Several weeks of not working in the gardens, they can really get out of hand. We pulled up Four O'clocks, cut back Glads and Crocosmia. Really need to do something different in here....
Painted this little plant stand, wrapped the volunteer Potato Vine around it for now.
Painted this table to match our chairs, Rex Begonia in the center.
Pulled up Impatiens to the right, where all the fresh mulch is. They were getting way too much sun. Gotta do something different here too.
Painted another chair, actually there are three of them now red.
I thought this color Vinca was never going to show up in the gardens this year, thankfully it did.
I have these unknown name Liles opening, this one is leaning into the tipsy planter.
See it on the left side? I knew I wasn't going to take good care of my tipsy planter this summer due to the surgery. So, I let a BES Vine grow in the third container and I just kept wrapping it around. It should start blooming soon. Oh, I see one bloom bottom left.
Here are a few more of the Lilies mentioned above.

The Celosia is quite tall, close to 7 feet I betcha'. One never knows what it will look like.
A couple of you should be receiving seeds in the mail today or tomorrow!!
Ah and look at all the seed pods on the Cleome...
Heat warnings out today....Heat Index upwards of 110...be careful out there...fluids and frequent rests.
The dreadful heat sure did make for a pretty sky last evening.

Today I am Thankful for all of the help my girls have given me in the gardens and with decent attitudes!!

Your garden help did a great job cleaning things up in your garden. How nice to have them working with you. The table looks great painted with that green color matching your chairs. And, I really love all the red wrought iron in your garden decor. Makes me want to go buy a can of paint...now what color...??

Beautiful Darla! I really like the lilies. This heat is awful. It was 87 degrees in my car this morning and it was parked in the garage.

Beautiful Yard! Love the Celosia. The lily looks kind of like the Easter lily.

Where do you find all those metal chairs to paint? Love them.
That celosia is cool. Never seen it before.

Darla, first I love the table you painted to match your chairs and the pink wire pot. I didn't know Celosia grew that tall but it's an annual here. Those Lilies are so long - very nice. Love that ya didn't get an attitude - LOL - how unusual. ;-)

Love the look of the vine on your tipsy pots.

You're lucky to have helpers in the garden, especially when you are recovering from surgery.

Still extremely hot here too. Not a very enjoyable to spend time in the garden.

Your yard always looks wonderful to me, Darla... We just planted about 18 Vincas --the color you showed today.. Our three round flowerbeds in front need some color now that the Lilies and Daffodils are gone. We put Pansies in those beds in the late Fall --and the Pansies will live 'til about July. Hopefully the Vinca will do well between now and Fall...

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

You should be commended on just being out in your garden and working as hot as it was. Our high today in Lexington was only 83 with a breeze and no humidity. Hope you get some cooler weather... Guess that will com sometime in November.

Hi Darla. Sorry to hear about the heat (it hasn't been higher than 90 here). I'm exhausted just thinking about the work you've done. Things are looking great.

Your garden looks very neat & tidy. I really need to plant more self-seeding annuals next year. That Celosia looks pretty cool. Yesterday I did some cleanup in my back beds and plan on doing the front ones tomorrow. :)

The things you painted look awesome! I love both the green and the red. Your blooms look like they don't mind the heat. It's been hot here, too.

Speaking of celosia, my next door neighbor got ahold of some seeds of some very tall ones from another friend, and gave me some, which I planted inside last year, and they grew well when planted outside. I decided to let them self sow over the winter. I was wishing I'd collected some seeds, because they didn't come up, that is, until a week or so ago. I wonder what is up with that. There are 4 or so plants, in spots that are already taken. Either I move them in all this heat and risk losing them, or let them take over the other plants I have growing near them. My neighbor collected her seeds last year, and hers are now blooming away. She said she'd give me more this fall, and this time, I'll collect some, too.
