New Plants..

My husband surprised me with a few new plants last weekend. Please let me know if you have had any experience with these and what zone you are gardening in.

Tradescantia bermudensis 'Variegata' or Tradescantia spathacea "Hawaiian Dwarf", variegated oyster / boat plant, variegated Moses-in-the-basket. My investigating came up with this:
classified as an invasive weed in FL. can cause itching or skin rashes from contact with plant surfaces or the copious astringent juice.
Zones 8b - 11, Propagation--sterile and non seeding, division of rhizomes or offsets.
Clerodendrum quadriloculare var. brandonii, variegated Starbust Bush, Shooting Star.
Mandevilla vine growing on the small grate support holding the mailbox lid open. I know these are not cold hardy here. Will have to dig it up or try rooting from cuttings.
Mandevilla bloom to the right of the Cleome.

Today I am Thankful for the increased range of movement in my elbow I'm experiencing on my own. Going to Physical Therapy this morning....

Glad to know you're getting to bend your elbow. I've seen the oyster plant before. Sorry I've never grown it tho. No info on the others either.

Good Morning Darla Sweetie...
Oh my goodness what a beautiful visit today. You have the most gorgeous gardens I have ever seen. I see those cone flowers peeking at me in the distance. They are so gorgeous. I would so love to have a few seeds of some of your varieties. I don't know if they would grow in Phoenix or not, but would sure love to give some a try.

I am so happy to hear you are doing better with your elbow. What a horrible surgery to have to go through, but the end results we pray will be phenomenal and you will be back in the garden real soon.

Thank you for sharing with me today. What a sweetie your DH is to surprise you with the plants. I love it.

Country hugs...Sherry

Glad to hear that your elbow seems to be doing so well... Hope you enjoy the PT... They say it really HELPS.

I don't know any of your new plants. Funny how one of them says that it's a Florida WEED.... Love that vine holding your mailbox open...

Hugs,
Betsy

I think that we know them as exotic and definitely not hard plants. Do you get frost?

Your new plants are just beautiful, but I don't have any experience growing any of them. With your green thumb, I know you will be very successful growing them. I am thankful your elbow is healing :-)

Hi Darla-dear, Unfortunately I have no experience with these beauties. How nice of your hubby to do something extra special to cheer you during your recovery. I'm sure he has full confidence you'll keep them alive and thriving just as I do. Maybe just keep that first one in a container. :)

I've never grown any of these, sorry, but good luck! :)
