Happy Spring and Random Things!

I do hope everyone is having a wonderful start to Spring 2011.. The season where gardens can change overnight, don't blink!

A photo of my only son, just because I think he's handsome.
This Loro I don't picture often, she has a bad haircut we are trying to let it grow out. Her clothes stay mainly green until late winter and then she changes into this brilliant burgandy outfit, unlike her cousins in the roadside garden, they like to adorn themselves in burgandy year round.
We still have a few Daffs blooming.
Ah, very soon we will be taking turns inhaling the sweet scent of Rootbeer~~~
Southern Garden staple...Azalea
Here we go again asking for help on a plant ID...(thanks for the ID on the neighbor's shrub Tina and everyone else) this small tree grows wild in our backwoods..

What do you think?
I won a giveaway over at http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ she always sends the coolest gifts...
I love all of these, my favorite? See that little round green tin with the white flower? That is some type of hand cream for gardeners and I mean it does the job! My knuckles, thumbs and index fingers were so cracked and dry they were hanging on different types of fabric...you know what I'm talking about. A common problem with gardener's hands. Can't tell you how many different lotions and hand creams I have tried that only soothe them temporarily. This one not only soothes upon application, it also heals the problem areas. So, Tootsie, where can I get more of it? SERIOUSLY!
I really like the gloves too! Thank you.. :)

I'll be away from the computer for a couple of days. See ya later.

Today I am Thankful for vacations, even the short ones.

Good morning Darla ~ Your son is a handsome young man.

That Loro is a beauty. I've never seen that before. Love your Daff, and I look forward to seeing your bloom that smells like rootbeer.

Hope you have a nice mini vacation. I hope it's still ok to mail out your pkg tomorrow. It should be.

What a nice bunch of goodies you got from Tootsie's give-away.

Enjoy your time off.

Flowers are beautiful and an encouragement that spring is around the corner. Just waiting for the snow to leave.

Congrats on winning the giveaway. Your Loro is stunning.

Great looking son you've grown in the family garden. That loropetalum has really outdone itself with the blooms hasn't it? Daffodils are something I have to enjoy from blogs "north" of me and I love seeing them. The rootbeer scented bloom has me wondering what it is. Looks like amaryllis but none of mine smell like rootbeer :) The azalea show is over here. Looks like yours is just beginning. Enjoy your time away from the computer and this great spring weather.

Another pretty shrub. Hope you get its name. Is that an iris that will smell like root beer?

Hi Darla...Your son is definitely a handsome fellow. You are so lucky to be able to grow daffodils in Florida. I should give it a try just to see. Last year I planted a Royal hosta, and it has reappeared this spring. So who knows...

Hope you have a good mini vacation. It's good to take a break. Oooohhhh what good gifts. And you already put the pink gloves to work. I am loving that daffodil. Daffs are not doing as well this year. They are stingy with the blooms this year.

Darla, what a handsome son you have, and he's not camera shy. Mine run when they see me coming with a camera.

Congratulations on winning the giveaway, that hand cream sounds like something we all could use.

Oh and what a handsome son you have. Girls are swooning over him I'm sure.

By the way I use Mary Kay handcream as it works magic on these gardening hands. Maybe Tootsie can hook you up on that cream.

You do have a very handsome son, so I understand why you wanted to post a picture of him.
I'm always amazed at how much further along you are in the blooming season. Our daffodils are now just starting to bloom.

Hi Darla, I am one of your new followers and a fellow Floridian. I see we share a few things in common. I love gardening and birds too. We are enjoying the Painted Buntings and Yellow Finches that hang out at the feeder off of our back porch every day. We have Cardinal's and other wild life too. Stop by and see me sometime. ~Ames

Have a great time Darla! James and I sure did enjoy our time in your garden the other day. Thanks!

Darla, your garden definitively screams spring! Love the almost white daffodil and can't wait to see the iris in bloom. They are my favorite flowers, but unfortunately for some reason they don't do that well in my garden.

Great generous giveaway that you won! Congrats and Enjoy!

By the way, I love your new header!

Love all your blooms! Yes, your son is a handsome guy. I wonder the same thing as Tootsie though :)
Have some fun on your days off.

Very handsome son you have, and so tall like my son...at 6'6". We grow them tall and handsome, don't we.

As for the plant ID, it looks like a honeysuckle variety. Good luck with that one. If I get a chance, I will do a thorough search for you. Honeysuckle smell great in the spring but sure can take over in a hurry.

Great give-away. I use Eucerin Intensive Repair and it seems to work for me. When the cracking starts, I break open a vitamin E capsule and soak it in. Feels great.

Hi Darla, Great looking son you have.... Hadn't realized that he is the only son... That makes him pretty darn special!!!!!

Your mystery plant looks to be in the Rhododendron family maybe... At least that is what the leaves look like from the pictures. There are alot of varieties of Rhody's...

Have a good little vacation.

Betsy

Well Darla we seem to all be in agreement about your good looking son and beautiful plants. I love your pink one - I call my Japanese Willow my 'Bad Hair Day' tree. Love it! I googled your cream and you can get it at drugstore.com. I love shopping there because one item I need is $9 for the Rite Aid brand and the same thing at Rite Aid is $20. Big difference huh? Plus you get free shipping when you put in a $25 order. No, I am not getting paid for the ad LOL. I just like passing along a good deal when I can.

We are so partial to our only sons. I can say that about my only daughter too, although I know you can't.

Don't know this plant, but now have my mother getting me start of the Japonica from Granny's since you reminded me I failed to bring one with me when we moved.
