Your bird pictures really cheered me up! I love cardinals - I wish we had them in the UK. It's very snowy here in London, so I'm spending a fortune on bird food. It's worth it, though, when you see all the little visitors.

You've got a nice selection of camera critters showing up at your feeders. We haven't seen a Cowbird, but we do enjoy the others at our feeders.

I adore the cardinals! We have all the others here in Washington though I'm not sure about that last one.

I JUST took my bird Christmas tree down 10 minutes ago. Though I still feed the critters with a feeder.

Our temps are so mild here that there are some little insects around for them to eat too!

Glad to hear you are having fun with the puzzle! I love that!

Puzzles are so fun. Last year that was one of my goals but it took a year for me to get to it. Now we have 1000 pieces that is so hard. My granddaughter did what little has been done on it. It is fun though and makes you think.

What wonderful pictures. I so enjoy the birds too. We have lots of cardinal and I love to see them against the snow. I see them through the window, but when I go out they fly away. I hate to try to shoot them through the screen, and it is too cold to go out and sit and watch for them. I have my camera by the back door and ready to go. Great job.

The birdies really seem to be more visible these days with leaves gone and food sources more scarce. Lots of them at the feeders brightening our days. Yours are very pretty... don't see the house finch much here though. Your days have been MUCH colder than ours... It looks like we get a double dose tonight and in the morning. Down to 25 tonight... what can live in that?

I have all those little guys over here too Darla! My daughter and her husband have no water this morning--frozen pipes.

Same kind of birds here only yours are smart to stay in Florida. Photo's are so good.

Hi Darla~~ It looks like the birds are unfazed by the inclement weather. I hope you're doing equally as well. ... I had no idea you bought the Celosia seed at the Dollar Store. This just adds to the allure--its humble beginnings. I hope you're not being queried by everyone for seed on account of me. :) Thank you for the offer for more. I should be okay, I hope. The problem is I waited too long. By the time I finally got to saving seed many of the fronds were wet and moldy. Not good. I appreciate being able to fall back on you if I need to. Thanks Darla!

Nice pix! I think you pegged them right except I think the male and female finch are Purple Finch instead of House Finches. They are hard to tell apart, but look at them in a bird book or google them and you can see the differences. Which ever they are, we haven't had any this winter. I always like to see them at the feeders.
Congrats on winning the header thing! Great!

Why is it that in the winter we see so many more cardinals? Hmmm. I'm not sure on your finches. I always get purple finches mixed up with all others except maybe the American ones.

Darla, Great bird shots! My dear all the critter action is in your yard! Love some of those feeders, too. Where did you get that great looking yellow cage? gail Thanks for the celosia seed help! Did you submit the header photo in the Gardening Gone Wild winter photo contest? I think you ought to!

Hi Darla, I think you got the right ID on every one. We love the finches and how social they are, often feeding in groups without the territorial spats that the cardinals have. The little titmice are so sweet, but hard to get a good shot of they don't stay still for a second. Well done! :-)

WOW... loving the birds you share. I am in day #3 of my bird watching adventure. THOSE LITTLE CRITTERS are hard to catch with the lens. I can't wait to see what you share next.

Happy New Year!
