What A Difference The 20's Make....

Yes, I am still practicing with my new camera and having a blast doing so!!
Here we have the male and female Brown Headed Cowbirds...
Song Sparrows are here by the hundreds..

For the important stuff. Our temperature dropped to the high 20's last night, did not get out of the 40's today and it's supposed to be like this all week....flirting with the teens (that doesn't sound good) Tuesday morning. The flowers that I posted yesterday are still doing fine. Normally Petunias, Pansies, Alyssum, Calendula, Dianthus, Snapdragons and the Sedums are tough, their blooms will freeze and fall off but the plant usually does well. We don't normally have this cold of temps for this long......so......we will see.
A few of my plants, (to cold to photograph them all) that DO NOT care for the cold weather are.
Firespike
Impatiens
Cleome
Mexican Bush Sage
Black Eyed Susan Vine...this will be fun to cut down. sigh.
Milkweed is about to give up..BUT WAIT..
what will this fellow do? He is on the bottom of this Milkweed as I type.
Brugmansia
New Guinea Impatiens on this side of the Red Brick Castle Wall
Alyssum and Calendulas on this side.
This is a Hydrangea that I rooted last winter, it didn't bloom this past season. I hope it will Spring of this year. I couldn't help but embrace the color of the leaves.
I cannot hardly believe the hardiness of the Forget Me Nots. I went out to collect seed and it still had some blooms..After a week of temps this cold I may not have anything to post...ahem, there is always the archives!
I have enough of these seeds to share if you are interested...rusdarathotmaildotcom
P.S. I feel much better. Thanks to all of you for the get well wishes. It lasted about 4 days..I got one of those nettie pots to rinse my sinuses and all but over done it with the Nyquil!! (hubby has it now..oops)

Those sparrows are over here at my house too! It has been cold. I even wore some thermal underwear under my sweater this morning to church!

I know you all are cold because you are not used to this weather. It got down to 19 here last night and the high was 30! We have a well so we have to put a light in the well house to keep it from freezing. It is so cold! Stay warm!

So sorry to see the frost damage to your beautiful flowers! Your beautiful flower photos always got me through our long winters :) did you cover some so they survived?

Sorry the cold is making your flowers look sad! Glad you are feeling better. Jeep has had a head cold or sinus problem for a week. He's been living on Nyquil! Now I feel like I may be getting it:( Seems like it is making the rounds.

Oh Darla, those poor frozen plants look so sad. I hope they survive this cold blast of weather. It's getting pretty cold down here in s. Florida too. I actually turned the heater on today, I'm a big wuss when it comes to cold weather. Hope you're having fun with the new camera and staying warm.

Hi Darla, Sorry you are losing some of your pretty flowers with this weather. Ours is horrible too. Our low tonight is supposed to be about 9 degrees... Too darn cold for me!!!! If we had some snow, I'd be happier--but just this old cold weather is horrible.

I remember cleaning up Impatiens after they froze. They turn to MUSH---and I hate to clean that up!!!!

Be careful down there and stay WARM--the best way you can.
Hugs,
Betsy

Glad to hear that you are feeling better, and loving your camera.

Hard to believe that your garden looks almost as devastated as ours do.

Here's to spring.

Glad you're feeling better! I used to be really into gardening and thought I always would be, but my allergies make it not worth going out there anymore.

It's sad because I had such a beautiful garden but I figure I'll put a few plants in pots and call it good!

I hope your plants survive the harsh weather there, and thanks for letting me know of the flower's name , really appreciate it.

Such weird weather we're having. I can't remember the last time the temps stayed as low as they've been. It's gonna make for an interesting week, that's for sure.

Glad you're feeling better. :)

I'm glad to hear that you're feeling better and I hope your husband is on the road to recovery. It's sad to see what the low temperatures do to a garden.

Oh Darla...I feel your pain. By Tuesday morning my garden plants should look like yours. Oh well...spring is just around the corner...hopefully sooner than later!

That's what our plants looked like two months ago. Now they are completely gone. And I miss them. I can't wait for them to start sprouting again!
