Fertilizer Friday

it's just unbelievable how time is getting by. drop by http://tootsietime.blogspot.com/ to see beautiful flowers from around the world. heck, why not link up and join the fun?

i ordered my first climbing rose this spring. it is climbing faster than i thought it would. this is suppose to be red blaze climbing rose, this does not look red to me.

cleome
malva zebrina--thanks tootsie!

firebush--smaller this year--wonder if the very cold winter had anything to do with that?

we finally were blessed with some rainfall the last two days and nights. while the majority of plants and myself were grateful the guara didn't appreciate it at all. they love dry and hot.

brother and sister need a scrub and fresh paint

gerbera daisy--margarita

dracaena or spike plant does not have to be the traditional house plant, with some of the ornamental potato vine that returned from last year. i'm spreading it around for vibrant fast color.
torenia-wish bone is popping up all over again this year
dahlia in the middle of the sheffield mums. she must be moved.
this is suppose to be a sedum. it had one small speck of green when i purchased it...know it's name?
here's the plant from seed marked white angel trumpet vine...most of you haved said it is an angel trumpet of some type. not quite like the datura i used to have.
it's full of buds...
it does look like it is trying to climb the trellis..could it be moon flower? i'll keep you updated on it's progress. ignore the weeds, slow gardening with one arm and it's waiting it's turn for surgery too.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
today i am thankful for the freshly fallen rain.
Darla ~ I love all of your flowers. Everything looks so lush and lovely. We are still waiting for rain down here. We've had it predicted for days and nothing happens.
I think your little statue is lovely.
Enjoy all that beauty that you are growing around you.
Have a nice holiday weekend.
Darla, Everything looks beautiful. Love the white flower - now, I thought moonflowers bloomed in the evening and night? Regardless, it is so pretty. Love the gerberas and your climbing rose but no it isn't red! Oh well! We gardeners get surprises sometimes!
Hugs, Beth
Well I like the color of the climbing rose. Sorry it didn't turn out to be red for you.
Those gerberas are pretty too! I still think your plant is a angel trumpet. It will be interesting to see if it climbs tho.
I love that vine with the white flower. I wish sweet potato vines were perennials here. They're so bright. Everything looks wonderful. My Gerbera's died last year. I must be in the wrong plant zone.
Beautiful blooms Darla, they all look so healthy & lush! There are so many shades of red maybe it is Blaze. Of course it could be mislabeled, which always happens to me. Grr...
Your malva is so pretty with the rain drops. My malva aren't blooming yet. Ther gerbera daisy is stunning and I love the dracaena and potato vine combination. Plus the pot they're in is great!
Your white climber looks lovely no matter what it is. Hope you're feeling better. I must be frustrating to have the use of only one arm.
I like today's header.
Hi Darla dear, Interesting Datura. I wonder if it is a reverted seedling from a hybrid you had in year's past...just a thought.
That is definitely NOT Blaze. I think a call to the company is in order. You deserve an apology and refund. Although this rose you ended up with isn't half bad and has its attributes.
It would probably take a helping hand with your "condition" but a tomato cage around your flopping Gaura would help matters immensely. I speak from experience. I always "cage" my taller ones now. Can't go for that flopping.
Weeds? What weeds?
Happy 4th...
Everything so beautiful, Darla! Hope your elbows are holding out taking all these photos...or maybe you have an assistant or two??? :)
Your new rose is very pretty even if it's not the one you ordered. I miss having Cleome this year, it all sprouted and then with all this rain the slugs ate everyone of the seedlings.
Glad you got the rain you needed!
Hope the arm is getting better.
It does look like a moon vine. They are so pretty.I have been trying to grow one for three years. Urg!
Your potato vines always get so huge. I cannot believe I did not plant one this year. Most of mine were from seeds this year though.
Your dahlia looks lonely LOL!
Yes, I really wanted some of your pretty pink hollyhock seeds. They are tough so maybe they will survive my attempts. My Gay Feathers never came up. I am so bummed out girl. I think something ate them.I cannot find the bulbs.
Glad you got some rain for your garden.
Have a great weekend!
Hi Darla,
My daughter, a floral designer was looking at the computer while I was reading your post, and said that rose is pretty. It is, even if it's not so red.
I've had some plants shorter than usual, too. Some are just staying small, and not doing much. I hope the zebrina mallow I moved grows.
I don't think that moonflower is the vine kind. It looks like my datura. That's weird, because moonflower vines are not daturas, and the leaves look more like morning glory leaves. The blooms are fragrant. I'm trying to decide if I'm going to keep growing datura. I found out it's jimson weed. Some people use it for a drug, and it's very dangerous and some have died using it. It's a hard decision, because my mother in law grew it, and the flowers are awesome.
I hope your elbow is healing.
the rose doesn't look red to me either, but I LOVE that orange! I have a gaura I planted in the fall and was wondering why it was so floppy. I don't mind the look terribly, but good to know that when hot and dry, it might be a little less sloppy!
Darla, Your flower photos are lovely. The fact that you know all their names puts me to shame. I can only post flower pictures saying sorry I don't know its name. Amazing really amazing.
