Our Projects...

Of course these photos are out of order...haven't you come to expect this from me?

We found this large mailbox on the side of the road in someone's trash pile..yes, we stopped and scooped it up. Now, how will I use it in the garden? May paint, "Flowers Delivered Here" on it.

We have had two old inexpensive tables sitting around on the porch getting beat up from the weather. The girls and I wondered what was underneath.....Even hubby got in on the action.
The one on the left, of course is the stripped and stained one complete.
Started staining it and then realized I needed to take a photo...
We used Minwax Polyshade, Stain & Polyurethane in 1 Step--Classic Oak Gloss
Upon visiting http://therobinsnestcountrycrafts.blogspot.com/ I decided to copy her chalkboard pots. I primed the pots with Kilz and then applied three coats of chalkboard paint. (Couldn't find the chalkboard markers that the robinsnest talks about) We just used the small kid's regular chalk. Now, I will be painting a chalkboard area on their bedroom walls. We also found magnetic paint, and dry erase paint for walls!!!!! Wonder what we will do with those?
I have also been playing around with my OLD plastic containers. Trying to figure out how to spruce them up so as not to continue buying more containers. This is not the prettiest container. I don't care for this type of stencil lettering at all. Just practicing...
Black spray paint with yellow spray paint on top, Pansy and then a few fern leaves..sealed with Polycrylic Protective Finish..(remember I painted an old plastic container for the School Bus Driver)
The girls and I went to an indoor flea market and found this little mugs hanger for one dollar. It was painted a horrible dark brown, a little sanding and some stain (same as I put on the table) and it looks fine.

There is only one way to get better at anything you do...Practice, practice, practice. Not too shabby for two days worth of fun!

Darla: That was so nicely done with your work on the table. Old wood can really be brought back to life.

Wow, what a difference in your tables. Well worth the effort of refinishing them. Just love the black pots. I have a mail box I plant flowers in too.Never thought of putting a saying on the side. Cute idea.

I love it all.....glad it was you doing all that work instead of me. If this is the post you got out of line just go back to edit it and change the post time and date to be later than the one after this.

You are just so crafty and creative. I love that mailbox. I have one in my garden-not painted yet but one of these days. Sigh. Probably when I stop blogging. Ha!

How about you! I love making old things look new again! I'm toying with the idea of refinishing our dining room table and chairs. Maybe I'll try a small table first! Good job!

You guys did a great job on those tables! The chalkboard pots are one thing I have always wanted to do...they look wonderful.
I have some magnetic and some dry erase paint here somewhere. HAD to have it...and then chickened out as my gang could not be trusted to only draw in the chalkboard area....a wall is a wall when you are two! lol and so I am waiting...saving that paint for outdoor projects only!
I am sorry I missed your post until now...I think I may need to go do some junkin!!!

Great ideas you have there. I love the chalkboard paint on the flower pots. I'm gonna try that one. It'll help me keep those herbs straight. You know, the ones I can't grow. But atleast I'll know what didn't make it. tee hee
