The Weekend...

The three medium kids have committed themselves to fasting a favorite food and a media for 40 days. They are giving up chocolate, chips, video games and radio...along with this they have something to do everyday at school. Today is to place a painted rock somewhere on campus to remind them that they can overcome giants. Peer Pressure that is... They will be doing things like writing an encouraging note to an administrator, speaking to someone they do not know.....basically letting Christ shine through them. My motto is...."Sprinkle and Shine not Pour and Blind." Pray for my medium kids please.
Middle School and High School can be very challenging.....
Thanks Grandma and Grandaddy..........
the watermelon was
good to the last sip!

We are beginning our fall veggie garden.

So true! My son is in middle school. I remember those days. It was hard then, I cannot imagine what it's like now.
Definitely saying prayers for yours and mine.

Good Morning Darla.
I agree middle and high are both so hard now. Things have changed so much since the days I was in school. Best of luck to your children and also to you (it's hard on mama, too). I love what they are doing.

Those rocks are pretty! Middle school was the hardest for my kids, especially my son. I even had to switch him to another school with a special gifted program that helped him settle down. He had to ride two school buses in the mornings to get there, but it was worth it!

How exciting--a fall vege garden means harvest season is upon us and it's my favorite time of year. I like your saying to shine and not be blind and what a good lesson for the kids.

I think this is a wonderful project for your girls. I think middle school was the toughest for my children (especially my daughter), so I hope all goes well for them. The watermelon looks like it was delicious.

Middle school was the worst for me. It is definitely hard for kids.

I think it is great they are doing this fast tho. That's neat!

Darla, You and your hubby are doing such a wonderful job with your kids... Life is hard these days---much harder than it was even when I raised my sons. Kids grow up so much faster now --and so many 'adult' things are available to them at such young ages. I'm proud of what you all are doing to help them through these tough years.

Another thing good for teens I think is to get out as a family and take some long hikes in the woods. Have you all ever been to Falling Waters State Park not far from you? Neat park with sink holes and a waterfall!!!

Hugs,
Betsy

That is wonderful news about the kids and what they are doing while fasting-Makes my heart smile!

Thank you so much for the prayers of protection while I was hiking last week. All the prayers worked. I guess we hiked past 3 bee hives right on the trail and didn't even see them! A bee landed on my leg and was walking around and I didn't have a worry-I felt all your prayers! Thanks again!

Garden centers for small bird houses and feeders which could make perfect favors. If you cannot afford to purchase one for everyone then consider one between couples and one for each single guest.
