You are blessed Darla. You have a sweet and loving family. That is wonderful that he is able to spend so much time with your girls.
The chair in the photo is like the chair I just painted for my porch. I'll show a photo on my blog soon - just as soon as I can get a cushion and get the porch painted in a week or so. Then I can show it off.
Yes, grandparents are wonderful and I hope everyone who still has theirs will enjoy them while they they can. Mine were gone too soon!
Hi Darla....
I thought you were resting this week.. must b Martha
I agree with you comment about our headers.. what is wrong with some folks... I detest seeing rubbished dumped.
On a lighter know I do like your thought for the day... I am very thankful I am a grand parent... it is great.
That is one BIG plant! Glad you and the girls had a good day.
That does look like a fun day. I think I'd have fun trying to drive one of those lawn mowers.
I never understand why people would leave garbage all over their yard, especially the front yard.
I am grateful for the same thing...my Mom is the only grandparent left for my kids!!!
Your urban decay photo is sad in a front yard.....
Your girls will always remember the times they helped Grandpa and all he's taught them. This is wonderful.
Grandparenting is as rewarding as raising your own children.
Your header is sad. The furniture is beautiful but so neglected. Too bad you couldn't snatch those up. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
Have a Blessed and Hoppy Easter
Your father must have a very big lawn to need a mower that size. A field perhaps.
I'm sure that old seat could be mended and repainted. Would make a nice plant stand if nothing else.
Strange header competition this week, Darla.... How many of us want to see that???? I can see it all over TN---but I surely don't want to take a picture of it.
I'm sure your kids love your Dad...What a neat grandfather... That truly is a huge bush... Is that just ONE bush/tree??? Wow.... Unbelievable. AND--so pretty...
Hugs,
Betsy
Great post Darla. Good job on the header challenge too. Sorry I wasn't able to join in this week.
I sure loved my grandfather,we called him (Big Daddy)
Patsy
I just loved this post. But most of all I loved your comment to me. That is really true and just what I needed to hear. Thank you so much.
Now that is one HUGE lorepetulum! Awesome!
wow your dad's loropetalum is huge...it must be so old. it's great that your girls have their papa. they must have alot of fun tagging along with him.
i don't see a lot of urban decay near me cause we live in the country but i do when we drive into the city...so ugly.
hope you are doing well.
Darla: You painted such a beautiful family picture! Your dad's Loropetalum is just stunning.
I have some graffiti on the fence in my garden across the street. When I post photos from over there, I always avoid photos of it. I'm thinking about trying to paint over it, but I'd have to ask the next door neighbors, because the fence doesn't belong to those who own the yard where I garden.
It sounds like you all are having or had a great time at your dad's. I enjoyed the photos.
Oh, and those bushes are beautiful!
And we grandparents are delighted to have the third (and soon forth) generation around. Enjoyed your post of the visit with your Dad!
The loropetalum is so beautiful. I love the pink color. It is so wonderful that you and your children are able to spend time with your dad. It is so important to create those wonderful memories and cherish those loved ones while you can :-)
my sister and I used to each have a riding mower to use when we were younger out at the farm...well my Dad allowed us to use his...lol "allowed" lol
I would love to have the chair in the sad yard you photographed...what a shame such a pretty piece is going to waste...and what a waste of great yard space that could be used for....FLOWERS!
see you on Friday?
How wonderful for the girls to have a great lawn mower riding teacher! Grandparents are the best. If only mine were with me longer then they were. I cherish the memories of my grandparents and often see traits of them in myself.
Wow, that is a huge Fringe Bush!
Today I am thankful for the memories….
Love the color of the lorepetulum. Looks like you had a very fun day! Sometimes the simple things in life bring the most joy.
WOW! That is some shrub/tree/statement! I wish that we still had our grandparents and that my son still had his. They were wonderful gifts for us while they were in our lives. I am grateful for that~~
There is way too much urban decay. I've noticed that with the economy issues our city looks like it's been beaten up. gail
Your father's Loropetalum is amazing!
I picked up a 'decaying' chair something like those last fall. I wouldn't want to sit on it but it will hold a planter or a birdbath OK:)
Marnie
Wonderful family events. They are a blessing, aren't they?
What beautiful memories are being made for the children ... fabulous pictures to treasure, also.
Happy Easter!
TTFN ~ Hugs, Marydon
Hey Darla, When you get a chance will you look at that bloom on my blog and see if you know what it is. It smells heavenly and is on a bush in our front yard. We usually only have a couple of blooms but it is covered this year. Thanks for the help.
Well Darla, thanks a lot. You've just dissolved all my contentment. I'm in lust overdrive: I want that Loro. I want those wire chairs and I want you dad--in a platonic way, of course. Your girls look like they're enjoying themselves. How fun!
Darla: Looks like you found a junk heap.
Wow, that bush is beautiful!
Love the cat food eating cardinal shot.
Wish my Dad were still around to talk garden talk with.
