GBBD and Oh Gail!! Oh Gail!!

Head on over to Carol's at http://maydreamsgardens.blogspot.com/ to see what else is blooming on this beautiful 15th of March.

I'm still watching these Ranunculus Buds...
Very pretty at this stage too.
Nemesia is just about to bust out all over.
Newly aquired Creeping Phlox. I have the Spring Blooming type, this one is supposed to bloom throughout the Summer, we shall see.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh my Dear Gail over at http://clayandlimestone.blogspot.com/ had a very interesting and long relationship with a Peacock until she found just the right home for her. At least I think it was Gail, in all of my excitement I'm not sure now........Gail or not, she has a great blog. If it wasn't Gail please let me know who so I can give proper credit...
Upon walking out my front door this morning with camera in hand of hopes of blooms for GBBD what greeted me under our Pear Tree eating birdseed?
I really can't say who was more surprised me or the Peacock...it ran and I screamed!
I did manage to get the two younger children outside to see the Peacock as it ran into
our way back woods.......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today I am Thankful for the BIG surprises that nature brings..

Darla: And I though the deer were going to be hard to feed. I've never seen a loose peacock, really would like to see it fan.

Oh my... I'm kind of surprised you haven't had them before now... such a perfect place for them. Do you remember we had six of them sauntering through our neighborhood for about 6 months and it was going on this time last year. We finally paid to have them trapped and removed. They can be such a nuisance... but they sure are majestic.
Love all your blooms.

I've never heard of a creeping phlox that blooms into summer. I'll be interested to see if that happens.

Hope your peacock doesn't hang around for a long time.

Great buds! And what a delight to see the peacock!!! Does it belong to a neighbor or is it wild???

Loving your budding ranunculus and oh my, is the peacock a sort of meme, to be passed around from blogger to blogger? I kind of wish for it, though it's likely too cold for them in Connecticut :)

OMG! I can't believe you have a peacock now too. That's' so hysterical. Love your ranunculus flowers, I've been wanting to plant some for a long time, so it's nice seeing yours, it will be so exciting when they finally open.

What a surprise! A peacock came through my parent's yard once very unusual. You must have a farmer or someone nearby who has a peacock around.

Darla, It was me and Ms Priscilla has a home in the country. I hope Mr P doesn't decide to take up residence under your feeder! The males make a horrendous noise~ Just ask meems.

The phlox sounds wonderful with long lasting bloom~~ Long bloom is really appreciated in the south where the sun seems to discourage spring blooms from hanging around.

Thanks for your very kind words and the link. You are a doll!

I think this is the first time I've heard of a peacock on the loose. I'm glad you were able to get some photos. Your garden is coming along very nicely. We've got a few crocus trying to bloom, but that's about it.

The ranunculus buds look sort of like a rosebud. Nemesia is one I'll be getting again this year too, it bloomed like crazy all summer.
How fun that you have a peacock visitor! I wonder if it'll be back?

LOL - now you got peacocks! I hope it's not catching. I'd rather just stick with Great Blue Herons.
I love the Ranunculus in bud. I've starting taking notice of them last year, and now I think I really, really need some.

Oh Darla what a great surprise! I will tell my daughter and I will keep an eye out too when I'm over there. I would love for my grandkids to see a peacock.

seriously? are they wild there???? My dad had them when we were kids on the farm...they are so cool to watch. What a great surprise!
I love the photos of the unopened flower buds...they are gorgeous! Hugs friend.

I hope it decides to come back an stick around for a while... I have seen these beauties no and then.... mostly they have their wings clipped so as not to fly off...
Around 25 years ago while out walking I saw this strange bird in flight.... I did not know what it was until it landed.... That is the one and only time I've seen one in flight.
Loved the Roses and look forward to seeing them again..

When I lived in California, there were peacocks that roamed the neighborhood. I love peacocks and have thought about trying to raise them here. So far, though, I just have chickens! :) Your flowers are beautiful!

What a neat surprise a peacock.

Oh how pretty.... Meems talks about peacocks ---and I know they 'can' be nuisances ---but they are pretty. Most people like squirrels because they are so 'cute'---but I hate those things since they cause so much damage around here.

Great post this morning.
Hugs,
Betsy

Wow, a male peacock. That would certainly get my attention too!

What lovely plump buds, Darla. It won't be long until they're in full, beautiful bloom.

I wish a peacock would visit me.

Ranunculus remind me of roses, tiny roses.

Let us know if that creeping phlox blooms thru the summer. I'd love to find something like that.

Happy Bloom Darla, wow…. now that was a BIG surprise you got today! Here’s me thinking your ranunculus had finally opened too ;-)

Fingers crossed for you that they were just passing through… assuming that’s the outcome you’d want :-D

Well, I was going to say that I loved your Ranunculus. That was until I saw your peacock. How great that you happened to have your camera with you.

Oh my! A peacock! Wow. How are you feeling? I have not been a good blog reader lately but I am hoping to catch up this week.

An unexpected peacock in your garden. What a wonderful gift! They walk free around the Philadelphia zoo, and are so fun to find unexpectedly around a corner. Your blooms are lovely! I found your blog from Flower Hill Farm.

Happy Bloom Day Dear Garden friend. LOoking forward to sharing spring with you.

I don't think I've ever seen a peacock on a Bloom Day post before. I think you get some kind of ribbon for that.

The ranunculus buds are groovy; I especially like the second one. Nice!

How exciting to meet a peacock. I get excited when I see a chicken-sized blue jay in the garden. I can't imagine coming upon a peacock. Love the Ranunculus!

Rose said...

I'm sure the kids enjoyed seeing the peacock; this surely wasn't Gail's Priscilla:) I love the buds of your ranunculus opening up--the perfect photo for GWW's monthly photo contest.

Oh now that would be a fun sight to see!
Do those things run wild down there? Or did one escape?
