Ranunculus Opened...

We had a wonderful time this last Friday on the Band Field Trip, it was actually a competition with the Symphonic Band earning the Superior Rating in both areas!!!

The long awaited for Ranunculus Buds finally opened. They look like a cross between roses and poppies to me...what do you think?
The colors are very bright and can be seen from way across the yard.

I have several others that are in bud mode, one plant with 5 buds on it.
Just as exciting I saw the first Ladybug of the season on one of my Cornflower buds.

Today I am Thankful to be celebrating our Middle Medium Kid's 14th Birthday!

Those are nice. I might need to find me some. They look like peony poppies to me.

Hi Darla,
In the thumbnail, I thought it was a rose! Very pretty! So jealous that you are so far ahead of us:) I would dearly love to tour your yard while it's in full bloom! May you have the strength and energy to do all you want to do this summer.

Wow Darla that really is a beautiful flower. It does look like the poppy to me. I know you were thrilled to find it in bloom.

Darla, those are wonderful! I grew Ranunculus one year and just loved them. Seeing yours makes me want them again. Are they hardy for you? They aren't here.

Their papery-thin petals all stacked and layered like that always remind me of phyllo pastry. LOL.

Happy Birthday MMK!!! The bloom isn't what I expected. It looks almost like a small, very double poppy. Very pretty.

These Ranunculus are quite possibly the most beautiful flowers I've ever seen!!! I'm not sure I've ever seen them before. I think they are prettier than roses and gosh, just about any other of this type bud. WOW! I am seriously in love.

Congratulations to the band! I remember how much fun band competition was, always like it better than solo & ensemble contest.
I'm drooling over your Ranunculus. I've become smitten with them this year. I especially like the color of the first one.

I don't think those grow here. They do remind me of poppies and roses. The colors also remind me of moss rose.

Glad to hear you had a fun time on the field trip.
I agree, the Ranuculus do look like a cross. Pretty. Maybe they should be called Posies. Or maybe that's where that word came from. tee hee
