Weekend

On Friday we had 3.8 inches of rain. I know it's not as much as some of you are receiving, a lot just the same and it looks like more is on the way.
Last year I had a Black Eyed Susan flower that looked like a Muppet because several of the stems and flowers grew together. This year it's the Foxglove. I planted these Foxglove Seeds in Dec. 08.
Just look at that stem and flower head....
Can't wait to see the bloom open.
I am enjoying the Breadseed Poppies from Catherine over at http://agardenerinprogress.blogspot.com/ a lot!

I did not know that String of Bananas would bloom, see the bud?
Maybe some of our Peaches will hold on this year.
Grapefruit

I also planted Hollyhock seeds in Dec. 08 and have some buds this year...yippee..my Dahlias have buds on them too. It looks like May will be spectacular in the garden..(hoping the rains don't beat everything down)

Today I am Thankful I did not give up on seeds sown in 2008..

Can't wait to see what that bloom will look like either. I love it when something unusual appears in the garden.
Pretty poppies.
BTW-how should I plant those forget-me-nots? I've never planted them before and I'm trying to decide where I want them.

Hi Darla,
Looks like you have a little of everything growing. Hope the fruit hangs in there until it is ripe! Love those Poppies!

Interesting looking blooms forming Darla! Did you get any plants from the seeds I sent you?

So far, the firespike has just sit there. I don't think it likes it's new home.

Your foxglove should be as interesting at bloom as at bud. Cool that they grew together. I have seen trees do the same. Very cool. Love the banana plant. I have never seen one before, or a grapefruit. Thanks for sharing and cannot wait to see more.

Those buds certainly look odd. Can't wait to see what they look like in full bloom

Those are great. Sometimes seeds have their own schedule despite what the packagages say.

The string of bananas is really cool. I've heard of sting of pearls but not the bananas. I love it!

Beautiful blooms on the breadseed poppies. Mine so far have no buds. Hope your peaches are good enough to eat. Mine are dying on the tree before they even get halfway to maturity. That is a weird that the foxglove did that and what a huge stalk on the plant. Hope you don't get too much rain. We have a had a good bit overnight and today so far. The gardens are showing the signs of hard rain - losing the blooms. But they will come back bigger and better after the rains.

Weird foxgloves. I saw one in the store doing that this weekend. It was one of the first ones purchased.

I'll take your rain. Been weeks since we've had any measurable rainfall.

Can't wait to see the Foxglove bloom. I'm like Tina, heard of String of Pearls and I've had String Of Hearts but never Bananas. Hmmmm. The poppies are gorgeous. Mine come up and disappear - all 4 kinds of Poppies I've planted. Wonder what critter is enjoying them although I see no sign. Maybe the hard rain washing them away? I'm puzzled and upset!!!

Hi Darla. Now that is one funky looking Foxglove. It won't blow over at least LOL! It will be interesting to see the blooms from it.
Wow! Your poppies are just gorgeous! Love them. Mine are still so tiny. They may be big enough by fall LOL!

Hi Darla! You got your foxglove buds already, the first year? Since it is a biannual plant, it should flower only in the second season... What did you tell those seeds?
Poppies are beautiful!

Hi Darla, that bloom is going to be beautiful, can't wait to also see it!
Your garden looks like it will pop with blooms really soon.
It is so fun and more enjoyable when a plant grows from seeds. I get a little impatient and just buy the stupid plant about 4" tall. Enjoy the rain! ~Ann

I'm so happy to see all those poppies blooming there! Mine are nowhere near that big yet, but growing everyday. I'm trying new pink ones this year, so I'll have to save seeds from them for you for next year.
That is a crazy foxglove bud. The buds on mine are just beginning to show.

What ever you are feeding the plants it sure makes them grow.
