The Weekend...And...

We had glorious weather for the weekend. I managed to pull up three wheelbarrows full of ornamental potato vine, wishbones and trim up a few things. Looks a little more tidy and a lot more empty, I can barely look at it. Dreaming of my next nursery outing for fall plants....pansies, petunias, dianthus, alyssum...whatever else may 'jump' into my cart.

Our oldest medium kid turned the big '15' this past Friday. After I picked her up at the bus stop off to the mall we go...For what you might ask? Her cartlidge pierced....
she also wanted nail polish that she could wear on her fingernails to school. I buckled and got, blue, orange, a frosted dark pink and a light pink...( here's hoping she really likes the light pink)
...She immediately polished her nails blue and added little gems to them....
A BIG Birthday hug for Dad!!
A few weeks back I entered another Give-A-Way from another Canadian Blogger...Sandy of Aging Disgracefully at http://newfie-girl.blogspot.com We had to write a story about how well we knew her through her blog. Her question to us was...If she had 100.00 to spend, how would she do it....I apparently have gotten to know her quite well...I won. Her package arrived just about 20 minutes ago...Thanks so much for the nice gift Sandy. Your Give-A-Way was a fun one!!

Now if I could just get Bilbo to show up on my doorsteps!! I'm so ready to play that game with all of you that are interested..

Cute earrings, but ouch! I'm way too squeamish for the cartilage. Glad she had a good birthday. My grandson is home from school today--coughing, sneezing, some fever. He's going to the doctor at 3:15. I hope it's a cold!

Hi Darla, ouch, that looks like it would hurt. Pretty earrings.

I wouldn't mind meeting Bilbo either. I would be fun.

I was glad to hear that I'm not the only one who has problems with plants jumping into my shopping cart! Thanks for the memories of a daughter getting her ears pierced on a birthday -- been there, done that!

Happy 15th to your daughter, Darla.... Do you realize how fast ALL of them are growing up?????? Yipes!!! Mine grew up much too fast and are 46, 39 and 38 now.. Double Yipes!!!!

Can't wait to see your Fall flowers. We'll buy lots of Pansies soon --which usually live through the winters here (except last year when it stayed too cold for too long)...

Hope you are feeling well now. Don't over-do!!!
Hugs,
Betsy

oh I hope she likes the pink too!!! tell her to keep that piercing clean....I used to have one or three or four of those...and the infections were too much so I let them go and now only have 4 holes in each ear...yes...it is so sad...I had to practice on someone didn't I? I worked in a shop that did the piercing when I was 14...apparently they used to let anyone do the job! lol

It happens to the best of us, doesn't it Darla? My two younger daughters, 17 and almost 19 have multiple piercings now. But I insisted no tongue piercings. Hopefully no eyebrow either, or lip. The way I see it, we have to choose our battles. My daughters are good people and stay out of trouble, get good grades, etc. Allowing them the freedom to express themselves a bit is well deserved. Your daughter's cartilage looks sweet.

Hi Darla,
Congrats on your winnings. What girls like these days would have been 'far out' for us old-timers. She's a cutie, blue nails and all!! Hope she had a happy birthday. Look out for next year! Sweet sixteen, you know!

I had my ear pierced up there many years ago (like over 20), I still remember how much it hurt.
Lucky you to win the giveaway!!

I think the blue polish is cute on the young girls. I've been known to paint my toe nails blue a time or two. But I can cover them up a time or two.
Congratulations on the win! Lucky girl!!

don't worry everyone it doesn't hurt that much. I came back from my first year at uni 18 years ago with one of those and my mum immediately asked 'what's that'. I smiled and said 'oh you should see my belly button one' and started to lift my top. You should have seen her face but it helped put things in perspective for her and she quickly agreed it could have been worse. Very different to nowadays when you share those experiences with your children. What a top mum you are :o)
